At Syngenta, we are working to build the most collaborative and trusted team in agriculture that provides leading seeds and crop protection innovations to help farmers grow their best crop.  We are currently seeking a Research Technician for the crop protection development team ideally located in Saskatchewan (Regina or Saskatoon preferred). As a Research Technician you will Support crop protection development across crops and indications (seed treatment, fungicide, insecticide, herbicide) through dedicated excellence in small plot trialing.

The Research Technician position is a 11-month fixed term contract.

What will you do:

• Plant, maintain, and harvest trials for key crops in the area. This includes routine site/farm maintenance activities such as tillage, soil sampling, fertilizer applications, planting plots, applying/implementing treatments, collecting observations and in-season data, and maintaining the plots throughout the growing season
• Support the site team through expert operation and skilled maintenance of agricultural machinery
• Operate precision & digital data collection tools, collaborate with those in other provinces using the same digital tool capabilities
• Use your understanding of general agronomy, pest management, crop physiology, plant growth & development and grower production practices to support trialing excellence.
• Effectively work with, and if necessary train and supervise, summer interns

• B.Sc or M.Sc in Biology or any relevant discipline in the agronomy field
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in field research of Crop Protection products
• Diploma in agriculture or horticulture is a strong asset
• Practical truck/trailer experience 
• Clean driving record
• The ability to work with minimal supervision during travel to off-site locations to collect and manage data obtained from trials.
• An awareness that field work requires standing or walking, bending, kneeling or working in awkward positions and lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling medium to heavy weight materials up to 50 lbs
• Ability to travel domestically up to 10%
