As the Remote Sensing Leader, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of remote sensing solutions across the global Syngenta business. You will provide technical expertise in satellite imagery, GIS, statistics, and programming to support the development of novel software imaging solutions. Your primary goal will be to provide non-subjective, quantitative data to growers through image analysis and processing, using a combination of traditional image analysis and artificial intelligence (AI) techniques such as Deep Learning. Additionally, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring a small team of remote sensing professionals.

  • Lead a team of remote sensing professionals in the design, development, and implementation of imaging and GIS solutions that support the global Syngenta business.
  • Provide technical expertise in satellite imagery, GIS, statistics, and programming to develop novel software imaging solutions that provide non-subjective, quantitative data to growers.
  • Develop computer code written in Java, Python, and other relevant programming languages to address new imaging requirements and maintain this code for dissemination to others/adaptation for future needs.
  • Lead collaborations with external companies and organizations where remote sensing technology is a key stakeholder.
  • Provide views on remote sensing competence in reviews of external academics and companies.
  • Stay up to date with the latest developments in remote sensing technology and develop new methods to improve the accuracy and efficiency of image analysis.

This person may work remotely if they currently live in the US.  We are not able to provide Visa sponsorship at this time.


Qualifications

Required skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field along with 5 to 8 years of relevant experience
  • Proven experience in remote sensing with a strong focus on satellite imagery, GIS, statistics, and programming.
  • Experience processing geospatial data including georeferencing, orthorectifying and mosaicking imagery, reprojecting, and routing.
  • Experience applying object detection and semantic segmentation to overhead imagery (satellite and aerial).
  • Experience in building object detection models to identify each object of images using AI techniques such as Tensorflow, Keras, and Object Detection.

Preferred skills

  • Master's Degree education level
  • Experience with Computer Vision is a big plus
