Syngenta Seeds Product Safety department is committed to applying world-class science and winning innovation to offer farmers safe, cost-effective solutions that address the demands of a rapidly changing world. We are looking for a scientist to manage regulatory studies, monitor study programs and generate data to support China cultivation regulatory approvals of our biotechnology products. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following matters:

  • Plan and place studies at external laboratories; monitor and deliver those studies on agreed timelines to meet project and business needs.
  • Generate molecular and/or protein analytical and/or field/greenhouse data in compliance with internal and external standards to meet project and business needs. 
  • Document experiments and test results, interpret data, and write and review complex technical documents (protocols, reports, SOPs).
  • Work closely with global and local Syngenta functions and participate in regulatory project teams to provide technical expertise.
  • Work with global/regional/country teams to identify, solve and manage key scientific problems, particularly on the design, use and interpretation of safety data.
  • Provide input to responses to questions from regulatory agencies in China, taking into account regulatory and technical implications both within China and globally.
  • Remain abreast of current research to identify potential opportunities and issues.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Experience, and Capability

  • Minimum requirements include a PhD in Biological Science, Crop Science, Plant Breeding, Molecular Biology, or a related subject with 0-3 years industry related experience or a MS degree in one of these subject areas with a minimum of 3 years of industry related experience.
  • The position demands wide-ranging knowledge of GM Traits/products and China requirements for cultivation approval. 
  • The ideal candidate will have prior experience with GM Traits, molecular biology and/or basic laboratory techniques, working with crop in field and/or greenhouse.
  • A strong capacity for problem solving. Strong attention to details. Strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work closely with other teams, sharing responsibilities and accountability.
  • Ability to develop technical skills in multiple disciplines.
