We are currently seeking a Regional Head Seeds Production and Supply Chain, North America for the Seeds Operations team based in Downers Grove, Illinois, or surrounding area. As the Regional Head Seeds Production and Supply Chain you will provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the Production and Supply Chain function in the Region, including ultimate accountability for the delivery of pre-agreed objectives and functional governance and standards.
You will enhance the prosperity of farmers by:

  • Leading seeds operational activities, processes, and resource planning, comprised of optimizing seeds field production, processing, and operational planning
  • Leading the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) initiative, order fulfillment, logistics, direct procurement, and the design and implementation of the Seeds supply chain strategy
  • Coordinating capital projects and managing engineering team, parent seeds, technology, and quality management activities in the region
  • Aligning the investment plans with the Syngenta business growth strategy, and the new products and new technology introduction (new traits)
  • Serving as an active member of the North America Seeds Executive Leadership Team (SELT) and core decision making process during Business Plan Review (BPR) sessions

Accountabilities

  • Establish and execute regional strategy for Production and Supply Chain, ensuring alignment with Global Production and Supply Strategic Plan, 5-year and 15-year strategic plan
  • Lead, develop, and continuously improve the field production and seeds processing activities for the region, for parent and commercial seeds
  • Lead the operational execution of Seeds Production Research, Parent Seeds, Engineering, HSE and Quality control teams and activities, in alignment with directions of the respective Functional Head
  • Manage the overall cost of function, ensuring optimal use of functional budgets to deliver the required operational services. Manage fixed, variable and capital cost performance in line with agreed upon budgets
  • Attract, develop, and retain the right capabilities, ensuring a high performing function and robust succession pipeline. Continually reviews P&S organization design to align to business requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Agribusiness Management
  • Experience in both Field Production and Plant processing, or demonstrated capability to lead and manage in these two areas
  • Demonstrated Supply Chain knowledge
  • Agronomic and technical seed production system knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to comply with industry standards and local legislation, HSE, Quality, and Legal standards in order to minimize and control risk, investigate complaints, and implement improvement actions

Preferred Requirements

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and knowledge of process and systems required to meet a defined result
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Proven track record of leading, developing, and engaging teams
  • Strategic mindset, able to develop and implement new ways of working and performance improvement measures, as well as customer centric attitude
  • Lean/Six Sigma/OpEx experience and Productivity continuous improvement mindset
  • Experienced at driving change and building new culture and teams
