KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans and coordinates seed production activities (acquisition of basic seeds, growing and cultural activities, harvesting and processing, shipments) to efficiently achieve the specified orders.
  • Receives and confirms the seed production orders and contract terms
  • Oversees the implementation and maintenance of the ISO-9001, KFC and GSPP standards.
  • Prepares the annual Budget estimates & Latest Estimates (LEs) for the department to ensure cost sustainability of business
  • Plans resources and greenhouse space allocation for seed production in an optimal manner to achieve set targets
  • Monitors and controls department expenditure to ensure spending is within budget while maintaining quality and quantity.
  • Monitors KPIs to ensure business remains aligned to overall annual objective
  • Prepares periodic and ad hoc reports and disseminates to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Represents the department in the management meetings to provide and receives updates/feedback from other departments for info/decision making.
  • Takes charge of performance management process as per the Syngenta guidelines
  • Prepares leave plan schedule for the employees and submit it to HR for implantation.
  • Drives the strategic agenda initiatives within the teams to achieve the overall cooperate strategy.
  • Ensures facility maintenance to avoid incidences and machine damage.
  • Leads in the operational excellence by driving various initiatives to achieve efficiencies and possible cost optimization
  • Sets logical targets and discusses them with relevant persons and ensures implementation of appropriate strategies for their achievement.
  • Enforces HSE rules and regulations and champions the implementation of the Syngenta HSE policy in all business decisions and activities.
  • Any other duties & projects as may be allocated from time to time.

Qualifications

DESIRED WORK EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture or related field
  • Knowledge in Plants pathology (Pests and diseases) and Crop protection will be an added advantage.
  • 10 years’ experience in growing seed crops.
  • Knowledge in end-to-end process i.e. handling hybrid seed and harvesting stages.
  • Knowledge in disease and pest management.
  • Data management and analysis e.g. planning, budgeting etc.
  • Farm production planning and execution
  • Optimal resource allocation
