Role purpose:

  • Provide support to set and implement portfolio direction for CP business in line with Portfolio/Indication strategy
  • Manage Key Channel Account by identifying portfolio opportunities and help deliver business strategy and enable profitable market share growth
  • Develops CP planning and forecasting over 5 years in line with crop, asset and Key Account aspirations under the direction of the CP Portfolio Head
  • Provide relevant support in CP specific marketing deliverables in alignment with the CU goals
  • Act as a single contact point for functions on CP strategy and portfolio-related matters for alignment 
  • Actively manage product lifecycle. 
  • Ensure pricing positioning is value maximizing and establish pricing corridors for the responsible brands

Accountabilities:

  • Strategy and Business accountabilities
  • Ensure effective positioning of the products responsible for. 
  • Support with Data and analysis for the development of 5-year CP portfolio strategies in coordination with Portofolio head aligning key portfolio strategies to enable profitable market share growth and get consensus on priorities and resource plans.
  • Develop and monitor market intelligence, bringing in customer insight into Portfolio Leadership Team. 
  • Manage alignment with asset teams; coordinate and support as per requirement
  • Build business case for new product ideas. 
  • Ensure robust brand launch plans are developed, implemented and reviewed on regular basis for new and strategic products. 
  • Develop and manage key account relationships, providing marketing and technical support 

Capability and Organization Accountabilities:

  • Establish connectivity with asset teams to ensure effective/efficient  communication.
  • Ensure firewalls are maintained between key accounts.
  • Work closely with CP team for portfolio and specific projects.
  • Work closely with Business Planning and Development Manager in the development of market opportunities and KAM relationship.

Qualifications

Knowledge, experience & capabilities:

Critical knowledge:

  • Syngenta products and key competitor products
  • Crops and agronomy knowledge
  • Customers / Channels for CP in country
  • Internal processes / governance
  • Marketing, Business operations, basic understanding on R&D and finance 

Critical experience:

  • Internal experience of the agri-business sector in Marketing, Sales and Strategy
  • Experience in portfolio and asset management in CP
  • Working relationship with above organization and other companies.

Critical technical, professional and personal capabilities:

  • Understand market dynamics and competitive environment in primary crop markets.
  • May require extensive interaction with Key Accounts who may be competitors of Syngenta.  Ability to maintain a firewall is critical.
  • Designs effective product life cycle management strategy and brand strategy
  • Ability to apply MaSE pillars effectively
  • Creates strong, distinctive brand plans
  • Delivers distinctive value proposition to customer
  • Develops/implements effective product communications
  • Develops/implements effective pricing strategy (lead value pricing, influence transactional pricing) with the pricing manager
  • Support effective campaign strategy
  • Support effective Key account strategies
  • Able to use market research effectively to understand customer, markets and channels
  • Anticipates changes in the market and adjusts strategies accordingly
