Job description

  • Coordinate the North American (US and Canada) Product Biology active ingredient (ai) Turf insecticide & Professional Pest Management (PPM) portfolio research programs with a strategic approach to pipeline development.
  • Set priorities and drive efforts needed to describe the biological attributes of active ingredients such as biorationals, microbials, and/or biologicals inclusive resistance management strategies for long term product sustainability.
  • Work in partnership with Syngenta Professional Solutions (SPS) Global Technical Managers, SPS Brand Management North America (NA) to profile new ai’s for Turf and PPM with the outcome to promote a compelling development portfolio for new ai’s.
  • Collaborate with other R&D functions such as SPS Crop Protection Feld Development, Product Technology & Engineering, Regulatory, Portfolio Management, and Product Safety to drive operational excellence across all aspects of new ai development.
  • Coordinate alignment with Marketing to ensure projects have a robust regional fit with continuous competitive benchmarking.
  • Represent Product Biology in regional multi-function development teams to advise on and implement testing programs that consider regional strategies.
  • Generate and implement innovative ideas on active ingredient and formulation development to enable rapid, efficient, and value-added incorporation into Syngenta integrated solutions and initiatives.
  • Build and deliver ai profiles that are well scoped, with clearly understood technical attributes, and resistance management strategies.
  • Proposing and advising compelling product concepts based on new and existing ai’s in alignment with Global Technical Managers, Regional Product Marketing, and Technical Field Services.
  • Manage the development of research protocols designed to identify biological targets, use rates, appropriate formulations, phytotoxicity, and solutions/sustainability fit.
  • Monitor and ensure competitive benchmarking occurs throughout product development.
  • Advice on Insect Resistance Management Strategies, as related to product sustainability, product lifecycle management, and resistance risk across the competitive landscape.
  • Participate in appropriate Professional Societies and/or within University Organizations to represent Syngenta as leaders in product development and sustainability.
  • Manage assigned research and travel budgets.
  • Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Entomology, or a related field of study, employer will accept a 3 year foreign degree, and five (5) years of experience in the position offered or five (5) years as a Technical Manager, Agronomist, or a closely related occupation.

Requires five (5) years of experience with: socio-agronomic and urban entomology factors; processes and systems required for data capture, analysis, and presentation; field trial implementation; proposing creative research ideas and approaches; data analysis and interpretation; public speaking and scientific communication; independent project management including project planning and execution, and budget planning; change management and process improvement; internal and external stakeholder management; Asian Pacific markets including data submission requirements for key markets in Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam.
