For our site in Münchwilen (Aargau, Switzerland) we are seeking a motivated and talented Process Flow Chemistry & Automation Intern (m/f/n). This is an exciting opportunity to work with a team of experts in the field and contribute to ongoing projects related to process optimization and automation. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a variety of laboratory and automation technology.

Accountabilities:

  • Support the development of new active substances and intermediates by providing technical expertise and process capability for the optimization and scale-up of chemical processes.
  • Contribute to the development of new process development tools focused on automation and data science in the context of flow chemistry.
  • Generate innovative ideas, concepts, and detailed work plans to drive project activities and accomplish project goals.
  • Define experimental methodologies, perform risk assessments, and independently conduct laboratory experiments.
  • Record experimental data accurately using Syngenta ELN or other designated reporting tools, and ensure the data is accessible for future use.
  • Effectively communicate research findings, results, and project updates through written reports, PowerPoint presentations, verbal communication, and poster sessions.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or possessing a master's degree in Organic Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
  • Previous research internship experience in a chemistry laboratory is mandatory.
  • Solid foundation in an object-oriented programming language such as Python is required.
  • Knowledge or awareness of data analysis and modeling would be an advantage.
  • Possesses good communication skills, actively listens, and demonstrates a willingness to learn and understand technical situations.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English. The ability to communicate in a German-speaking environment is an asset.
