Role purpose

This role provides engineering design support to effectively manage assigned capital and continuous improvement projects within the formulation and packaging units for Operations, Maintenance, and Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) departments. 

Capital project management includes design, costing, procurement, scheduling, installation, start-up coordination, and post review.  All new and revised implementations will be designed in accordance with recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices.

Continuous improvement includes formal Operational Excellence processes as well as informal daily process troubleshooting support of the process control network and various applications to ensure the efficient capturing and managing of required data within the manufacturing environment and making this information available for process optimization. This role will partner with IT and maintenance support to ensure the integrity and reliability of the process and business networks

  • Capital: Develop and submit capital projects, $100,000 to $1,000,000, that optimizes formulation, packaging, analytical and logistics efficiency / responsiveness to meet increasing active ingredient complexity and volume growth.
  • Health, Safety, & Environment:  Ensure personnel are provided pre-equipment purchase safety design reviews and post installation training to ensure safe equipment operation and maintenance.  Provide technical support during Process Risk Analysis.  As required, support programs and team activities required to meet corporate HSE requirements.
  • Quality:  Provide stable systems that allow Operations and Quality to deliver formulated product on-time and in-full at quality levels meeting or exceeding customer expectations to support execution of bulk and pack filling requirements.
  • Financial: Integrate data analytics / dashboards to improve decision making for maximum asset utilization, batch cycle time improvements, and reduced labor requirements, consumable production supplies, and utilities.
  • Direct Leadership:  Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop innovative solutions that enable the advancement of robust and safe processes. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.
  • Indirect Leadership – Influence Without Authority, Communicate Clear Direction: Effectively coordinate projects, training and process improvement deliverables in a collaborative environment and at times with disparate stakeholder input.

 


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Chemical Engineering.
  • 4 to 6 years of chemical production related experience
  • Capital project design and implementation experience

Preferred Requirements

  • Understanding of operational excellence tools in lean manufacturing
  • Experience in process control network support is a plus.
