Role Purpose:

  • Act as the local spoke for the Process Studies Group (PSG) connecting the needs from PTAI in Monthey with the PSG hub at Jealott’s Hill (UK) for fundamental studies and general support.
  • Lead and deliver physical organic chemistry and mechanistic understanding to support the introduction and manufacturing of active ingredients at industrial scale ensuring local and global HSEQ standards compliance.
  • Identify, design, and deliver strategic and enabling technologies (SET) projects, drive improvement of one or more chemical processes, in established production lines or for news processes, to make them robust at the best cost.

Accountabilities:

  • Define and agree fundamental understanding work in agreement with the stakeholders, plan and control laboratory work and bench-scale plant trials to develop and test new manufacturing processes or analytical techniques.
  • Write technical reports to record and share the results of production campaign, experimental programmes, and laboratory work programmes, ensure project data and information is properly stored.
  • Provide technical support to production team for manufacturing process problems solving, conduct process performance studies and prepare reports/recommendations for continuous improvement (process efficiency, costs reduction, etc.) ensure HSEQ compliance.
  • Provide project support, specifically expertise in physical organic chemistry and technology innovative solutions and support process relocation projects to external suppliers or other sites.
  • Maintain global network, actively participating in regular PSG global meetings or internal and external global technical networks events or training to maintain and develop competence and expertise for self and others.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 experience in Chemical industry,
  • Master and PhD in physical organic chemistry or organic chemistry, typically with a Post Doc,
  • Knowledge of systems for process changes and the potential implications on product quality,
  • Fluent in English, French an asset,
  • Experience in project management,
  • Ability to build and maintain strong network and cross functional collaboration.
