Role purpose:

  • Support the introduction of new active ingredients or new manufacturing processes at industrial scale. Support the start-up of new installations
  • Provide technical support to production to deliver supply chain and site needs – capacity, quality, costs, etc. – and troubleshoot process issues
  • Drive improvement of one or more chemical processes, in established production lines or for news processes
  • Provide technical expertise to support projects (eg: extraction, chemical synthesis, etc.)

 

Main tasks:

  • Plan laboratory and production tests to improve manufacturing processes to achieve defined objectives
  • Communicate with other functions (internal and external) to exchange technical information to define process development work
  • Designs lab experiments according to development plan to optimize chemical processes and to generate process understanding
  • Provide technical support to production team
  • Conduct process performance studies and prepare reports/recommendations to improve process efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure HSEQ (Health Safety Environment Quality) compliance
  • Attend risk assessments and validate proposed process changes. Understand the major risks and provide a link with our Process Hazards group
  • Be a technical representative within the supply chain team, the production team and the projects team
  • Prepare annual development programs to meet Supply Chain needs and technology strategy
  • Support the technical transfer of manufacturing processes to third parties (outsourcing) or to other Syngenta facilities

Qualifications

  • You have a PhD in organic chemistry, typically with a Post Doc
  • Good knowledge of general chemistry
  • Fluent in French and English.
  • Prior experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment would be beneficial, although not essential.
  • Track record in working within project timelines in a dynamic environment.
  • You have excellent interpersonal, communication and team working skills, and are proactive in your approach to work.
  • You can work flexibly to manage changing priorities and can deliver complex projects within tight deadlines.
  • You are willing to learn
