Into Action

As Plant Pathology Team Lead, you will supervise a team to deliver phenotypic evaluation and analysis of biotic traits : pests and diseases resistances.  This includes both routine and discovery trials for a wide range of crops performed in modern infrastructure under controlled conditions (laboratory, growth rooms, greenhouse) and field environment. You will provide subject matter expertise for the assessment of target traits and optimise the use of our resources. There will be a strong focus on people: development of team members, interactions with stakeholders and building on a peer community, so bringing your leadership experience to the table is key to succeed in this role.

The Challenge

You will manage and supervise activities of direct reports related to conducting, analysing, evaluating and reporting of specific trait assessment data, and independently provide direction for development of work plans and assignments based on needs from trait development projects, germplasm development and the market. You will facilitate training and development opportunities for team members to ensure technical capabilities for successful delivery of work and career development, and ensure adherence to Syngenta compliance and QHSE policies.

Furthermore, you will manage operational resources needed to deliver specific traits data (pathology, entomology) for discovery and germplasm development. You will be delivering current and build future capabilities to provide high quality data for trait targets that have commercial and strategic importance for Syngenta programs.

Additionally, you will contribute to the sharing of cross crop and cross location knowledge and technologies to build an effective trait assessment platform in key crops and manage Trait Assessment activities to the required standard to deliver fit for purpose data that enables trait and germplasm promotion decisions.

You will provide guidance on experimental design to generate data and analysis of and play the role of Trait Assessment Expert for a particular trait area. It is important that you build and maintain a network for external experts and collaborators that can support the Trait Assessment needs of key platforms.
