Role purpose

  • Lead formulation technicians which provide the formulation engineering technical support in both existing and novel manufacturing technologies to maximize quality, capacity, and efficiency outcomes during scale-up, and after launch, of new formulated products to commercial manufacture.
  • Lead formulation technicians to support the formulation engineers to evaluate new equipment and develop new formulation processing.
  • Responsible to ensure assistance to the formulation engineer to stage the pilot plant trials and development.

Accountability 

  • Support all Safety and Compliance requirements. Must be fully knowledgeable of, and compliant with all Syngenta safety policies and department standard operating procedures. Drive a strong safety culture of individual accountability.
  •  Independently schedules and executes formulation processing experiments which have been agreed with line manager.
  • Document experiments and results, developing reports and proposing follow-up actions to more senior employees. Maintain procedures, equipment and facilities, contributing to the definition of guidelines and procedures of work area.
  • Ensure assistance to the formulation engineers to deliver the scale-up of formulation processes from lab to full-scale manufacturing ensuring process safety, health and environmental subjects are fully anticipated.                                               
  • Be highly knowledgeable with the required formulation engineering techniques and equipment through on the job training and internal courses where appropriate.                                             
  • Proactively proposes and implement improvements to group operations i.e., safety, efficiency and productivity initiatives. May be a functional representative on a departmental operations team.

Qualifications

  • B.S. Engineering degree or proven technical experience in formulation processing development or formulation manufacturing.  
  • Good continuous improvement understanding, process risk assessment and HSE excellence mindset.
  • Experience working in cross-functional organizations, transiting in a dynamic and uncertain environment ensuring effective and focused project delivery (on time and in budget).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple requests from different stakeholders.  
  • Good understand of the end-to-end processes for product development, complex formulation processing scale-up and lifecycle management.
  • Minimum of 50% pilot plant work.
