  • Lead Field Production research activities to achieve competitive seed production through the development of standardized processes, metrics, organizational design and individual competency
  • Development of planned yield targets for all stages of hybrid seed production, defining overall variability in crop plan and by hybrid. Conduct root cause analysis for variability annually.
  • Improve production efficiencies by developing sustainable system that will deliver increased yield and lower cost of goods produced
  • Ensure field production technology innovations in the Seed & related industries and are identified, tested, evaluated and implemented if applicable
  • Financial and analytical measurements for score boarding improvements of field production research activities
  • Coordinate with regional plant processing lead and local plant manager to ensure plant efficiency strategy successfully implement.
  • Provide testing program from STG 4 above for parent test, process research, Micro pilot and pilot production to generate data to support product advancement.
  • Provide for planned yield development and maintenance of an aggregate 5 years rolling average absolute value 5 years rolling average. Measured by: year, growing areas/plants, varieties/hybrids, stage plan, segment (traits, Genetic...) for  both dry and wet season production
  • Measure/improve reliability of supply by ensuring the completion of standard deviation compare to mean at the aggregated 5 years rolling average and the absolute value 5 years rolling average. Measured by: year, growing areas/plants, varieties/hybrids, stage plan, Segment (traits, Genetic...) for  both dry and wet season production
  • Improve production efficiencies including but not limited to: Density/row ratio optimization, fertility and pesticide management, EZ capture & SPIRIT post data evaluation, hybrid planting recommendations, precision Ag applications and purity/trait management.
  • Evaluate and develop improvement plan for current product quality outcome by measuring a aggregate 5 years rolling average by year, growing areas/plants, varieties/hybrids, stage plan, segment (traits, Genetic...) for genetic purity, physical purity, WT and CT etc.
  • Coordinate with regional plant processing lead and local plant people to ensure plant processing improvement project properly implemented.
  • Interface with other supply chain teams and project managers to achieve competitive seed production through the development of standardised processes, metrics, organisational design and individual competency.
  • Set the direction for field production research activities through communication and implementation of a strategy which meets the needs of the individual seeds business units but leverages the full scale of the company and is aligned with the global and regional seeds supply chain objectives.
  • Ensure that the field production research activities is focused on the continuous improvement in seed production yields and quality through the effective management of field trial programs, production recipes, experiments and project based on timely and accurate data.
  • Interface with R&D to ensure that new products and new product forms are introduced effectively and sponsor the inclusion of research projects which support the improvements in seed production yield and quality.
  • Interact with Syngenta Seed Enhancements to ensure new seed enhancing technologies are being utilized for seed production
  • Provide support for career development and succession planning process including strategic recruitment and the development of key talents whilst maintaining the motivation and engagement of the function as a whole.
  • Priorities and align resources through effective integration with adjacent functions, managing resource conflicts and coordinating the annual budget and project processes.
  • Maintain an awareness of competitive developments and key technology trends in the Seed & related industries and external technology institutions to ensure that innovations are identified, evaluated and implemented
  • Ensure full HSE compliance and promote environmentally sustainable solutions  
  • Interface with team and other functions for competitive seed production  through the development of standardized processes, metrics, organizational design and individual competency
  • Leads the development of organizational capability to achieve state of the art production technologies
  • Ensures that the organizational set up is fully aligned with the needs of fast and effective strategy implementation by identifying ideal organization structure, capability and skills necessary in the organization to implement strategy.
  • Fosters and facilitates communication, sharing and teamwork not only in natural teams but also across functions and across geography
  • Builds trust inside the company and in the local community showing ethical considerations and Syngenta values are reflected in company activities.
  • Effectively promotes Syngenta Brand inside the company at customers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • University degree in agriculture related field.
  • Experimental design and statistical analysis skill.
  • Seeds production technology preferably across a range of crops
  • Developing and implementing of regional strategies
  • Leadership in teambuilding and managing change within a complex, matrix organization and across different functions
  • Stakeholder influencing and management
  • Cross functional and multi-cultural project management\
  • Critical technical, professional and personal capabilities
