Role purpose  

As part of the Group POD and Regional HR leadership team, this role leads People & Organization Development for Syngenta in LATAM.  

The role purpose is: 

  • to be a partner for the Regional Crop Protection and Seeds Field Crops Business and HR leaders to define its people & Org strategy and priorities; 
  • to be a single point of contact of the shared Group POD capabilities for the region, so that regional and country people and org development initiatives are coached for design, and supported for implementation;  
  • to co-create, together with the PODLT, the best-in-class POD programs and frameworks, bringing in regional needs and reflecting diverse business realities.  

As a POD leader, the role champions building the POD capabilities of HR and business leaders on the ground and equipping them with the expertise, tools, and resources to design and deliver local POD initiatives, leveraging capabilities across the BUs. In addition, the role contributes with its regional knowledge and expertise, to the continuous development and improvement of the shared POD capabilities across the Group, including end to end integrated talent management strategy, learning and leadership development, capability building, organizational design & development, change management, and culture transformation, etc.  

The role is also expected to work with Regional HR Heads, Senior Leaders and Leadership Teams to improve individual and team effectiveness; coach the design, development, and implementation of POD projects; and lead the most critical change and transformation projects or programs for the region. 

Accountabilities:

The Regional Head of POD translates Syngenta business strategy into specific people and organizational development strategies in line with regional business objectives, catalyses change journeys with senior leaders/leadership teams, supports the development and implementation of POD projects, and champions the development of the POD capabilities amongst the HR and business teams in the regions and the countries.   

Talent Management: 

  • Work closely with the Region Leadership Team on identifying critical roles for the business, mapping succession plans and analyzing its strength, running talent discussions, and bringing proper data to generate people needs and insights regarding talent pipeline.  
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition, HRBPs and Leadership Teams across the region to create an integrated talent management approach to effectively identify, attract, hire, develop, deploy, and retain talent, meeting the needs of the business and serving the enterprise. 

Learning Development:

  • Design the learning strategy needed by the Region leveraging global capabilities and resources. Promote a learning culture as a competitive advantage for the business. Create initiatives and actions to support the creation of an environment of continuous learning, curiosity, exploring and sharing amongst all employees. 
  • Assess the organization to identify critical development needs and in collaboration with the Group Learning CoE, design and deploy training, learning experiences and development programs aligned with the organizational and individual development needs. 

Leadership Development: 

  • Partner with peers, regionally and globally, to deploy global Leadership Development Architecture programming and relevant regional modifications. 
  • Complement the global architecture with local programs connected to the strategic business plan and leadership pipeline needs to sustain Syngenta´s business in the future. 

Culture Transformation:  

  • Partner with peers, regionally and globally, to deploy a winning culture that is needed for the business transformation. Work closely with Region Leadership Team to assess behaviors, beliefs and values that are shaping the way we do business, and identify the unique opportunity and focus areas in the region.   
  • Combine change management techniques and data from employee listening initiatives to track how it is being perceived by leaders and employees and plan properly actions regarding processes, people, and technology to ensure a comprehensive approach of cultural transformation.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: 

  • Integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices throughout all talent, leadership development, learning and cultural programs and connect it as a key driver for the organizational culture transformation. 
  • Lead the Region D&I Council, working close to Employee Resource Groups, cascading global guideline, providing direction and corporate alignment, creating a shared purpose within the team, looking for synergies between different Business Units and leading actions that truly shape the culture and impact business results. 

Performance Management: 

  • Lead performance management, deploying its global philosophy, including training leaders and HRBPs on the process, tools, and practices. Establishing a culture of ongoing dialog, continuous feedback and coaching amongst the business and providing key insights on PM to the Business leadership. 

Organizational Development:  

  • Partner with the Leadership Teams to identify opportunities for increased effectiveness – typically focused on strategy, role clarity, improved processes / efficiencies, leadership effectiveness, and team dynamics. 
  • Define, deploy, and maintain a comprehensive strategy of employee listening, combining the key VOC (voice of the customer) channels, interpreting the collected data frequently and integrating it into business and people strategies as actions or initiatives. Action plans for engagement, retention. 
  • Provide direct change management consulting, advice, and expertise to leaders and HR in strategic projects and initiatives from business agenda, such as overall transformations and/or M&As, to advance organizational effectiveness (impact analysis, stakeholder management, change agents networking, enablement, communication, competency assessment, organization design and more). 

People Insights & Analytics: 

  • Partner with People & Insights Analytics Team to leverage data usage, provide insights for the business on organizational health, performance metrics, development requirements and overall integrated talent management strategy and make recommendations to leaders and HRBPs to improve business results and employee experience. 

Advisor for HR Head: 

  • Enable HR Head to run business diagnosis, identify key people needs and develop a people strategy and agenda for the year (and beyond). Bring knowledge and expertise to co-create any specific solution or intervention needed by the functions, teams, and leaders during the year. Scope goes from ideation, develop to facilitation. 

Capability building of HR Community:  

  • Build HRBP capabilities in prioritized people and organization development topics. 
  • Partner with HR Operations and Internal Communication partners for aligned process and communication needs associated with accountably.

Qualifications

Critical knowledge and experiences required:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree, preferably in business or human resources management. 
  • 10+ years’ progressive career progression in one or multiple specialist domains of People and Organization Development, with at least 3 years previous experience in HR consultancy, or HRBP role a plus. 
  • Program or project management experience with applied agile, and continuous improvement methodology (e.g. lean six sigma). 
  • Track record of designing and delivering outcome-based People and OD interventions.  
  • Familiar in leading edge external trends in the People and Organization Development area.  
  • Curious to learn and always on the lookout for external best practices. 
  • Strong business acumen and customer centricity
  • Strong change & OD relatedconsulting, coaching, and partnering skills.  
  • Ability to effectively identify, in consultation with senior leaders, the scope and direction of regional people strategy and design pragmatic approaches to deliver the strategy. 
  • Balanced between strategy creation and hands-on operational delivery. 
  • Strong enterprise mindset and organizational savviness. 
  • Digitally and HR technology savvy. Proactive in injecting innovations into people and org development practices. 
  • Strong analytical mindset and excellent data fluency to look for the right data insights to inform people strategy. 
  • Ability to build internal and external relationships quickly and influence effectively. 
  • Very professional, collaborative and proactive ways of working. 
  • Ability to prioritize and align actions and ensure appropriate support and resources. 
  • Fluent in English and the local language where the role is based.
