Patent Paralegal

We are seeking a dedicated Patent Paralegal to provide consistent end-to-end patent formality support to Patent Attorneys, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of services to our business partners. You will become an expert in specified areas of patent paralegal duties and provide specialist services. Accountabilities/responsibilities will include;

• Acting as the responsible Patent Paralegal for a portfolio with allocated attorney(s), performing all necessary formality actions to ensure timely delivery.
• Providing effective patent formality services, including handling all aspects of patent filings, responses, and administration.
• Working to agreed service levels, undertaking special projects, and acting as a 'champion' for specific aspects of patent ways of working.
• Handle patent filing and prosecution, including priorities, foreign filings, national phase entries, validations, oppositions, and appeals.
• Providing reports, query services, and cost estimations to support Attorneys and business partners.

What are we looking for?

• Qualified Patent Paralegal (CIPA or equivalent) with practical experience in the role.
• IT literate with knowledge of using a variety of Intellectual Property management systems to deliver an effective service.
• Knowledge and experience of the patenting process including the 3 major systems – US, EP and PCT.
• Highly organised with excellent prioritisation, planning, and communication skills (written and verbal).
• Flexible and open to change, ability to proactively and quickly process and identify issues, propose solutions and implement action plans.
• Ability to maintain confidential information in an appropriate, professional manner.
• Proactive contributor to business partners with the focus on quality work along with collaboration, teamwork, accountability and adaptability.
• Strong analysis and critical thinking ability.

Jealott's Hill International Research Centre UK is situated in pleasant semi-rural surroundings between Bracknell and Maidenhead and is the place of work for approximately 800 Syngenta scientists and support staff.  Jealott’s Hill is one of the main global research and development sites and key activities include research into discovery of new active ingredients, new formulation technologies, product safety and technical support of our product range.
