Job description

 

  • Lead Parent Seed activities to deliver parent seed requirements for field production through the development of standardised processes, metrics, organisational design and individual competency 
  • Ensures the implementation of an end-to-end product delivery. Processes in placed for Line Maintenance, Pre basic Seeds, Basic Seeds. 
  • Development of planned yield targets for Basic seeds production, defining overall variability in crop plan. Conduct root cause analysis for variability annually. 
  • Improve PS production efficiencies by developing sustainable system that will deliver increased yield and lower cost of goods produced 
  • Actively steer the organization to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality seed. Delivers good Reliability, Quality and Quantity of parent seed for seeds production requirements 
  •  Meet financial commitments and improvement efficiencies and productivity within operations. Financial and analytical measurements for score boarding improvements for Parent Seeds activities 
  • Coordinate with regional plant processing lead and local plant manager to ensure plant efficiency strategy successfully implement. 
  • Establish an atmosphere of creativity, achievement and self-fulfillment 
  • License to Operate Provide a solid foundation from which to grow the business and maintain our license to operate with Strong collaboration and engagement with all stake holders to ensure safety and compliance  
  • Accountabilities
  • Ensures hand-off processes from PLP to PLM. Delivers minimum requirement for line maintenance within Quality standards 
  • Provide PS planning plan for yield development of Basic seeds aligned in HPC and SO SPP.  
  • Measure/improve reliability of supply by ensuring the completion of standard deviation compared to mean at the aggregated 5 years rolling average and the absolute value 5 years rolling average. Measured by year, growing areas/plants, materials, stage plan, Segment (traits, Genetic...) for both dry and wet season PS production 
  • Improve PS production efficiencies including but not limited to: Density/row ratio optimization, fertility and pesticide management, SPIRIT post data storage, precision Ag applications and purity/trait management. 
  • Coordinate with regional parent seed planner to have  robust SPP plans properly implemented 
  • Coordinate with processing lead and local plant people to ensure plant processing improvement project properly implemented.  
  • Interface with other supply chain teams and project managers to achieve competitive seed production through the development of standardised processes, metrics, organisational design and individual competency.  
  • Set the direction for PS production activities through communication and implementation of a strategy which meets the needs of the individual seeds business units but leverages the full scale of the company and is aligned with the global and regional seeds supply chain objectives. 
  • Ensure that the PS field production activities is focused on the continuous improvement in seed multiplication yields and quality through the effective management of fields programs, multiplication recipes, and project based on timely and accurate data. 
  • Interface with R&D to ensure that new products and new product forms are introduced effectively and sponsor the inclusion PS projects which support the improvements in seed multiplication yield and quality. 
  • Interact with Syngenta Seed Enhancements to ensure new seed enhancing technologies are being utilized for parent seeds production 
  • Provide support for career development and succession planning process including strategic recruitment and the development of key talents whilst maintaining the motivation and engagement of the function. 
  • Prioritise and align resources through effective integration with adjacent functions, managing resource conflicts and coordinating the annual budget and project processes. 
  • Maintain an awareness of competitive developments and key technology trends in the Seed & related industries and external technology institutions to ensure that innovations are identified, evaluated and implemented  
  • Ensure full HSE compliance and promote environmentally sustainable solutions.

Qualifications

 

  • University degree in agriculture related field. 
  • Experimental design and statistical analysis skill. 
  • Seeds production technology preferably across a range of crops 
  • Developing and implementing of regional strategies  
  • Leadership in teambuilding and managing change within a complex, matrix organization and across different functions 
  • Stakeholder influencing and management 
  • Cross functional and multi-cultural project management 
  • Critical technical, professional and personal capabilities 
  • Expert knowledge of seeds production technology  
  • Project/program management across functions 
  • Ability to catalyse transformation and change in the organisation 
  • Ability to influence 
  • Sound analytical and problem solving/ solid IT skills 
  • Balance drive for change with business operational agenda and readiness 
  • Good Communication skills with all levels of management and internal team 
  • Fluent in English 
  • High integrity, openness and transparency with strategic thinking
