  • Manage the occupational health department, including external contract and admin staff (e.g. Occupational Physician, Occupational Health Nurse, Optician, Therapists and Admin).
  • Manage health center provisions (calibration of health surveillance equipment, medical waste disposal etc).
  • Manage occupational health budget, 3rd party service contracts, and period orders.
  • Develop and maintain all clinical policies and protocols in line with changes in guidance and legislation. Implement corporate initiatives and codes of practice.
  • Participate in HSE, and Occupational Health audits as required.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and medical records confidentiality through digitalisation and new technology.
  • Oversee the health assessment programmes for fitness to work and ensure line managers and relevant HSE specialists are advised of any necessary workplace adjustments or restrictions (e.g. driver fitness, breathing apparatus wearer, night worker, pregnant worker etc).
  • Design, implement, and report health surveillance programmes in line with applicable HSE regulations in liaison with the Occupational Health & Hygiene Manager.
  • Analyse health surveillance data for similar exposure groups to identify early trends and provide anonymised summary reports to site management.
  • Coordinate the first aid provisions by the first aid team in line with The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981.
  • Review reported injuries and illnesses and assist in the incident investigation by providing expert input where required.
  • Provide specialist advice to line managers and HR during the period of Ill health or sickness absence along with detailed medical reports summarizing recommendations in accordance with best practice and the Equality Act 2010 and refer to Occupational Physician where appropriate.
  • Facilitate implementation of wellbeing programmes in partnership with HR and other external organisations.
  • Deliver presentations / training sessions to promote occupational health and wellbeing.
  • Work as part of the HSE team alongside the Occupational Hygienist, Safety Manager, Human Factors Specialist, Process Risk Assessor, and HSE Manager.

Qualifications

  • NMC Level One registration.
  • Relevant OH Degree and specialist practitioner on part 3 NMC.
  • Experience in delivering risk-based proactive OH services.

Desirable

  • Previous OH Management experience.
  • Experience of exposure to general management issues in OH service delivery, including policy development.
  • Good understanding of Occupational Hygiene and its role within Occupational Health.
