  • Lead an in-house team of chemistry, engineering and application technology specialists charged with developing innovative application technology to meet Canadian customer needs
  • Coordinate with global and regional product technology teams to integrate new developments into market-ready Crop Protection, Biologicals and Seedcare assets for the Canadian territory
  • Direct the evaluation and development of differentiated value-added formulations, precision application technologies and digitally enabled tools through efficient and effective collaboration with techno-regulatory and commercial stakeholders 
  • Deliver great customer experience by building product technology stories into technical campaigns during new product introduction, and through a variety of customer engagement activities (eg. product and application training, customer tours) during the product life cycle  
  • Serve on the Honeywood research site leadership team (SLT) to promote a safe and inclusive workplace in accordance with Syngenta values and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) policies
  • Support the regulatory team, and technology solutions and sustainability team by delivering product chemistry and application related information to support registration and launch of new crop protection products
  • Responsible for planning and managing budget of Formulation & Application Technology team

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical engineering, Agricultural or Biological engineering 
  • Strong track record of leading interdisciplinary and cross functional teams 
  • Proven ability to motivate the team to meet technically challenging targets 
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills to partner with technical and commercial stakeholders
  • Familiarity with regional and global procedures to draw effectively on all available resources.
  • Proven people management experience to promote a safe and inclusive workplace in accordance with Syngenta values and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) policies
  • Must be comfortable standing or walking, bending, kneeling or working in awkward positions and lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling medium to heavy weight materials
  • Must be comfortable working indoors in inclement test environments, both high & low temperatures
  • Handling and use of chemical test substances with full personal protective equipment including various respirators.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
  • Must have valid driver’s license and passport

As a member of Crop Protection Development Management Team in Canada, you will be a key people leader in our organization while providing technical and functional strategic direction. In this role you will maintain a high level of expertise and competency in the Formulation and Application technology function to support our business by actively managing a diverse high performance team.  

This critical role is located in Plattsville, ON at our Honeywood Research Facility, a place where innovative scientific work happens while being surrounded by the beauty of agriculture.
