We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Lab Assistant to join our dynamic team in our genetic testing facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laboratory work and a passion for scientific research.
Duties:
- Process leaf and seed samples for DNA extraction, operating various lab equipment including PCR and sequencing machines to obtain high-quality results
- Manage sample organization, meet testing deadlines, and maintain detailed records while ensuring sample integrity throughout the testing process
- Collaborate with team members, train contract staff, and participate in data quality analysis and process improvement initiatives
- Handle laboratory logistics including shipping, receiving, inventory management, and maintaining a clean work environment
- Update task tracking tools, participate in team meetings, and adhere to safety protocols while demonstrating strong attention to detail in all tasks

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field and 2+ years of experience.
- Proven laboratory experience, including pipetting techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow scientific protocols.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent mathematical and measurement skills.
- Familiarity with experimental design principles.
Preferred:
- Experience in genetic testing or related fields.
- Knowledge of DNA extraction and PCR techniques.
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
