Role purpose

  • To deliver proactive maintenance support across all engineering disciplines to meet production demands, through fault finding and diagnosis of failure; this can involve both the initial definition as well as the more usual implementation of plant modifications
  • To deliver planned routine preventative maintenance (RPM) activities to improve plant availability through structured monitoring, asset care, equipment maintenance, etc.
  • To identify plant equipment reliability issues, utilise route cause analysis techniques RCA, analyse SAP and production data to understand improvement options, implement solutions and carry out reviews usually within core trade
  • To support in scoping and design of new Projects with, Safety standards, site standardization, and maintenance after instillation in mind.
  • To undertake activities in compliance with site, company and regulatory requirements, e.g. HSE policy and standards etc.

Accountabilities

  • Carry out an engineering risk assessment (ERA) for each task performed, ensuring that all those involved in the task understand ERA and that they work within the ERA limits
  • Effective and timely response to equipment failures. Carry out fault diagnosis and the initiation and implementation of solutions to meet production demands
  • Maintain plant availability and standards by carrying out planned engineering work such as equipment servicing, structured monitoring and PM scheduling as instructed by MAXIMO
  • Manage all changes to plant, equipment and process via the Management of Change (MOC) processes
  • Assist in PRA and relying on knowledge to identify Risks and solutions related to formulation processes
  • Improve plant availability by identifying equipment reliability issues, determining, and implementing appropriate improvement opportunities and reviewing the outcome
  • Use judgement and experience to deliver activities flexibly ensuring that priority tasks are delivered to meet plant demands
  • Drive priority improvements as minor projects 
  • Carry out enabling activities required to deliver the engineering task. This can involve materials procurement, contractor co-ordination, working with production agreeing a suitable outage to deliver the task
  • Take responsibility for development of own skills and competencies in their core trade and ensure a good working knowledge of engineering equipment across the site. Ensure that personal knowledge is kept up to date as technologies change
  • To work flexibly to support production demands or to deliver shutdown requirements e.g. short notice, extended working days and hours as well as standby when required.
  • Take on the ownership for the co-ordination and the delivery of the whole task, while driving results from other Syngenta personnel and contractors involved in its delivery.

Qualifications

Knowledge, experience & capabilities

Critical knowledge

  • Understanding of HSE and Technical Engineering Standards
  • Detailed up to date knowledge of appropriate technical discipline (Millwright)
  • Fault finding and diagnosis techniques.

Critical experience

  • Electrical, Mechanical or Instrumentation core trade
  • Chemical industry experience is beneficial but not essential.
  • In depth knowledge and experience working on PLC is advantageous, fault finding and diagnostics knowledge.

  • Maintain and improve plant and equipment
  • Carry out fault finding and diagnosis of failed equipment, identify practicable solutions, to effect repair following the site procedures and HSE standards.
  • Identify and initiate information system data updates, SAP, Plant records, drawings etc
  • Procure materials and equipment stock and non-stock
  • Share learnings, deliver training and validation in core trade (Millwright).
  • Co-ordinate multi disciplines to deliver the whole task.
  • Design and planning of Capex Projects
  • Driving Minor improvement ideas
