Machine Learning Engineer - Digital Product Biology

Role purpose

The Machine Learning Engineer role is part of our Global Product Biology team, which is part of the R&D organization responsible for the development of new Crop Protection (CP) solutions for growers worldwide. In this role you will:

• Develop novel software image analysis solutions to provide non-subjective, quantitative data from agricultural fields through image analysis and processing. This could be through a combination of traditional image analysis and artificial intelligence (Deep Learning).
• Build and deploy machine learning systems throughout our data analysis pipeline

Accountabilities 

• Write elegant, maintainable, reusable code for image analysis
• Act as a subject matter expert in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and design of new image analysis systems and capabilities within the Global Product Biology team
• Work directly with the image annotation team to ensure the images you need to create models are fit-for-purpose.
• Develop, test, and deploy new machine learning models for computer vision applications

• Proficiency with the fundamentals as well as state of the art methods in image analysis, computer vision, and machine learning
• Ability to write maintainable, reusable code to develop high quality software and artificial intelligence systems
• Strong programming skills in Python
• Must be able to produce solutions independently in an organized manner and also be able to work in a team when required
• Strong communication skills. Fluent in written and spoken English

Preferred technical capabilities

• Experience with machine/deep learning frameworks like Tensorflow and PyTorch
• Proficiency with remote sensing, location, mapping, and geospatial data
• Proficiency with imaging system design and component selection
• Understanding of QGIS, git, and AWS
