Role purpose

As part of the LATAM regional Human Resources Leadership Team and the Group HR Operations leadership team, the Head of HR Operations LATAM is responsible for leading the delivery of LATAM HR operational services within a global performance framework and with strong partnering within and across the regions.

The role purpose is to:

  • lead and develop the LATAM regional HR Operations team ensuring they are motivated and equipped with strong service delivery, customer centric and continuous improvement capabilities. Role model desired behaviours including service mindset, customer centricity, project, and operational discipline to create a high performing organization.
  • partner with the HR Regional Leaders and supplier partners to deliver full range of operational Hire to Retire, Payroll and Benefits services across the LATAM (18 countries) region with strong service excellence and customer centricity.
  • as a member of the Group HR Ops Leadership Team, drive the co-creation of the Group HROps strategy and delivery, including continuous improvement of services and efficiency, technology innovation and data governance across the Group.

As a member of the Group HROps LT, the role is responsible for representing the regional perspectives and priorities, as well as contributing and helping shape the global service delivery strategy and priorities. As a member of the LATAM HR LT, the role is expected to actively contribute to the development of the regional HR strategy and operational priorities in support of the overall business strategy, and Group HR priorities.

Accountabilities

  • Lead HR Operations internal team with focus on engagement, empowerment and talent development.
  • Contribute to the Group HR Ops long-term strategy and short-term regular portfolio prioritization with strategic input and needs from the region, and a strong enterprise mindset to optimize and prioritize resources for delivering the team’s collective impact on operational excellence and employee experiences.   
  • Actively manage the quality of HR Operational delivery through the delivery teams supporting the region. Has the primary responsibility for the operational delivery to LATAM through the outsourced (Capgemini Campinas) and Insourced (Montevideo) HR Ops Delivery Centre.
  • Drive ongoing services improvement and value delivery; definition and tracking of performance metrics to identify continuous improvement opportunities and levers.  This includes ensuring employees have the relevant continuous improvement capabilities (Lean, agile and general continuous improvement techniques)
  • Take an active role in driving projects and initiatives that deliver operational excellence, continuous improvement, efficiency, impact to employee experience through leveraging leadership and change management capabilities.  
  • Manage and continually monitor the HR Operations budget seeking to optimize service levels, resources, and cost.
  • Manage the relationship with the strategic suppliers for all relevant services with a strong focus on customer service and continuous improvement; including immigration, relocation, service delivery, leave administration, benefit providers and payroll. 
  • Support the delivery of HR functional projects in alignment with the HR Project Portfolio including robust change management.
  • Accountability for ensuring compliance with regulatory framework for Human Resources and accountability through several audits with our delivery partners. 
  • Build strong partnerships with key client groups, such as Business leaders, Business HR and HR Centers of Expertise, across the region. Use empathy and design thinking to embed continuous feedback loops to evolve and refine service delivery performance.
  • Supports and encourages effective collaboration, interconnectivity, and process alignment with all areas of HR (i.e., between regional HR teams, in-country and global HR teams and external service provider). Be an active member of the LATAM HR and global HR Operations community.

Qualifications

 

  • Passionate about delivering services to the business and a desire to lead change projects to continuously improve what we do.
  • 10+ years’ career progression in Human Resources, with at least 5 years in a leading position at a country, multi‑country, regional or global level. Previous HR Operations experience a plus.
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree, preferably in Business, Economics or Social Science.
  • Experience in implementing HR projects and managing change in a cross regional context.
  • Proven experience in regional service delivery, payroll, operational compliance, escalations management, continuity planning and continuous improvement within multinational companies.
  • Leadership experience with virtual and big teams.
  • Ideally experience in both a shared services environment and an operational /”front-line” HR role
  • Process improvement or project management experience with applied agile, and continuous improvement methodology (e.g. lean six sigma).
  • Familiar in leading edge external trends in HR Operations and HR Technology area.
  • Curious to learn and always on the lookout for external best practices.
  • Strong business acumen and customer centricity.
  • Strong enterprise mindset and organizational savviness. Experience within a complex matrix organization is a plus.
  • Strong analytical mindset and excellent data fluency to look for the right data insights to measure Operational success.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to build strong and positive relationships with regional and with global teams.
  • Very professional, collaborative and proactive ways of working.
  • Ability to prioritize and align actions and ensure appropriate support and resources.
  • Portuguese, Spanish and English is a must.
