Here is how this role will be critical to our business:

Role purpose

Drive corporate communications efforts for LAS Business Unit to build awareness of Syngenta Seeds core business, strategy and differentiators among key internal and external audiences (press, investors, agriculture leaders, influencers, policy makers, employees) to build reputation and protect our license to operate, focused on territory needs.

Accountabilities

  • Be main point of contact of Seeds Business Leadership Team (BULT) to oversee corporate communications efforts that promote Syngenta Seeds core business, strategy and differentiators, focusing on key attributes such as farmer centricity, innovation, sustainability and people through a wide range of internal and external communications tools in support of business growth agenda.
  • Partner with and advise Seeds Business Unit Leadership Team (BULT) on corporate communications, enabling them to communicate effectively to drive Syngenta Seeds employee’s engagement and position them on press and social media to pave the way to our thought leadership agenda.
  • Lead Seeds Communications team at Business Unit level, ensuring they are equipped with right resources and information to focus on priorities, develop their jobs and deliver goals.
  • Elevate beyond product-focused marketing communications to broaden our communications and public engagement on Seeds business relevant topics (e.g. regenerative agriculture, biotechnology, innovations, diversity, health of rural communities), ensuring alignment with Marketing and Commercial teams and avoiding conflicts with house of brands strategy.
  • Working alongside Marketing, Product Management, Regulatory, Industry relations, HR and Business Sustainability teams to support our Freedom to Operate, understanding key stakeholders opinion on potential Seeds issues and guiding communications actions plans in response to them.
  • Coordinating and taking accountability for the management of key external communication projects/activities including developing and ensuring sign-off of project briefs and plans, budget and timeline tracking, liaising with external support agencies and diverse internal stakeholders, ensuring production and delivery of superior quality materials
  • Be the “guardian” of the implementation of the Syngenta Group Media Relations Policy and tone of voice, managing press relations on behalf of Syngenta Seeds, responding to media requests and defining how and when to best proactively use the press to position the Seeds business’s key messages.
  • Provide best practice sharing and coordination with commercial/Brands communication teams.
  • Oversight of media monitoring and social listening, triggering action when needed to monitor crisis or controversial coverage of topics of Syngenta Seeds’s concern, especially to reflect when they require addressing – developing reactive statements, joining online conversations of others.
  • Incorporate insights from data to guide the improvement of execution of communication strategies and campaign, as well as public engagement, seeking ways to improve communications excellence of everything we do.
  • Ensure alignment of corporate communications actions and activities with Corporate and CP Communications teams, in order to leverage opportunities and synergies and avoid conflicts with corporate strategy.
  • Be the “guardian” of the Sponsorship and Donation Code/Policy, implementing the proper governance, providing guidance to the Seeds organization as needed; arranging for training on the matter as needed.

Essential for this position:

  • Degree on Communications, Journalism, Public Relations and related fields.
  • Significant experience in External Communications. Deep knowledge of social media inner workings and SEO strategies
  • Ability to implement innovative communication strategies and pragmatic solutions to enable sucessful roll out of initiatives
  • Ability to manage, organize and coordinate multiple projects, agency contracts and relationships
  • Ability to think creatively with an understanding of brand strategy
  • Ability to handle sensitive/confidential information
  • Proven writing and editing skills in order to adapt complex information into understandable communication pieces
  • Collaborative, flexible, very good relationship with people (peers, leaders, internal clients), holistic view, result-oriented, lead with influence
  • Fluent English
