The purpose of this role is to improve the performance of Syngenta’s global genotyping capabilities by designing and developing a variety of innovative software and hardware solutions aimed at maximizing throughput, improving processes, and simplifying data collection and analysis. This role will be part of an automation team with responsibilities to the global organization, including technical project leadership and hands-on support for multiple projects directed toward software development, hardware integration, and overall process improvement. Familiarity with biological laboratory processes, data collection and analysis, laboratory instrumentation, and automation technologies is desired.
Accountabilities
- Serve as a resource for global genotyping, providing expertise in software development, hardware integration, and overall process improvement for the laboratories and scientists
- Lead or assist in the development of improved solutions
- Maintain expertise in current development tools and trends and apply them for data management and analysis, and reporting
- Keep current with laboratory automation trends and provide recommendations to the organization for equipment purchases and subsequent implementation.
- Maintain close working relationships with local laboratories as well as regional teams and supporting functions to:
- Serve as technical developer and subject matter expert for the ongoing optimization of tools and.
- Provide hands-on support for users within global genotyping, ensuring proper use of software tools for data management, analysis, and reporting.
- Communicate opportunities for improvement for applications and processes based on personal use or user feedback.
- Interact and manage external IT solution providers from a technical perspective.
- Serve as a bridge for all IT-related issues with several stakeholders
Qualifications
Essential Skills & Knowledge
- Strong software development skills including C#, ASP.Net Core, TypeScript, JavaScript, Angular, HTML5 or related web technologies
- Experience with large, complex relational databases (MS SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle)
- Knowledge and experience in data science, machine learning and deep learning, programming skills in Python or R will be considered as a plus asset
- Creativity in defining challenging exploratory projects and developing solutions
- Strong business aptitude, the ability to rapidly learn new problem domains, and become conversant in the domain with subject matter experts.
- Proven problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate complex qualitative analysis in clear, precise, and actionable manner
- Lead and influence people at varying levels of responsibility in a matrixed organization

Qualifications
- BS or equivalent experience in software development, automation or laboratory or related field.
- Minimum 4 years of applied C# .Net, Web and relational database experience
- Must be a full-stack developer and understand concepts of software engineering

- Capable of translating business problems into solutions
- Experience and passion for solving analytical and technical problems
