ROLE PURPOSE:

  • Plan and execute lab activities as per production plan with minimal supervision.
  • Monitor day to day activities of Associates and supporting staffs.
  • Identify challenges, deviations and develop improvement plans.
  • Experiment data documentation, analysis and reporting to LM and stakeholders.
  • Improve existing Protocol and develop new protocol as per requirement.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Authority level:

  • In-charge of Cell Biology lab activities at site

Work coverage:

  • Develop production plan as per demand
  • Plan Doubled haploid production for all projects
  • Plan and execute daily activities for Associates and supporting staff.
  • Preparation of tissue culture media as per requirement.
  • Understand and implement and Lab SOPs.
  • Provide technical training to all lab staff.
  • Provide input for Consumables and supporting staff requirement for budget preparation.
  • Manage donor plant production in growth chamber and polyhouse.
  • Monitoring and managing required environmental condition in growth chambers and incubation chambers.
  • Mange proper working and maintenance of lab equipments.
  • Preparation of tissue culture media, undertake plant tissue culture activities, execute ploidy detection, chromosome doubling, and hardening of tissue cultured plants.
  • Effective interactions with fellow workers or supporting staffs to ensure working quality and gain effective and efficient support.
  • Provide cell biology related support to stakeholders as and when required. (Micro propagation / embryo rescue/ seed germination etc.)

Responsible for:

  • Project activity timeline for key deliverables like DH production.
  • Management of donor plants in Growth chambers and polyhouse.
  • Executing plan for allotted work at site and maintenance of related records.
  • Planning for judicious use of resources in coordination with biological operations team.
  • Providing timely reports, updates to stakeholders.
  • Participate in project meetings, station meetings, crop tours etc.

Administrative responsibility:

  • Timely reporting of work responsibility to line manager.
  • Managing activity reports of associates and supporting staffs.
  • Co-ordination with biological operation and breeding team.
  • Regularly update monthly reports and work slate trackers.

Financial responsibility.

  • Cost effective work management, utilisation of available resources for maximum output,

HSE role and responsibility:

  • Take personal responsibilities to preventing harm to themselves, others, and environment.
  • complies country and site HSE regulations and be cooperative with HSE team.
  • Prompt report all incidents/accidents/near misses and hazards to line manager/supervisor.

 


Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Critical Knowledge:

  • MSc Biotechnology; Basics of plant biotechnology / plant tissue culture.

Critical Skills:

  • Plant tissue culture, Doubled haploid production, data analysis
  • Communication and team management skills
  • Computer knowledge

Critical Experience

  • 3-to-5-year experience in plant tissue culture / doubled haploid production.
