Job description

As the Head North America Project & Portfolio Management, you will be responsible for Leading and developing new capabilities of the North American (NA) Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) team. This role provides portfolio/project management leadership and direction to regional R&D functions. The role is a member of the NA Crop Protection R&D Management Team.

Duties:

  • Drive necessary collaborations with a wide range of internal stakeholders including all NA R&D functions, commercial partners, Finance, Global R&D PPM team and counterparts across other regions, etc. to achieve the best outcome for our portfolio pipeline.
  • Engage to actively shape and maximize the value of our portfolio pipeline, generate insights for R&D strategies and drive actions to provide the business with registerable options, continuously challenge the organization to invest in the right projects, control costs, fail fast, enhance customer-focus and increase speed to market.
  • Champion digital transformation, the concept of Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR) data, data-based decision-making and expansion of SmartChoice Connect as a single point of truth.
  • Create an environment that enables innovation through motivating and empowering project teams to be courageous and accountable, and embracing digital opportunities to increase efficiency and effectiveness and build competitive differentiation.
  • Ensure quality, accuracy and effectiveness regarding the planning, tracking and delivery of the regional R&D project portfolio.
  • Drive simplification in NA project and portfolio management tools, processes and governance with a focus on digitalization.
  • Catalyze improvement initiatives (including digital), seek broad alignments (in region, globally, and stakeholder functions), and drive disruptive change while ensuring business continuity.
  • Implement an agile Portfolio Definition Cycle (PDC), serve as the NA Development Committee Secretary, and drive operation of the NA R&D Management Team.

Qualifications

  • Minimum MS degree in agriculture, biology, chemistry, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years work experience overall, including a technical role or external experience in agrochemical industry.
  • Knowledge and experience in agrochemical product development required.
  • Prior experience working toward resolution of complex R&D challenges including strategy, risk, and resource management.
  • Excellent management skills leading teams, driving strong performance, developing people, and motivating direct teams and others to continuously improve and embrace change.
  • Ability to quickly develop positive, collaborative relationships with a wide range of diverse Regional and Global stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated communication and presentation skills, able to articulate clear R&D strategies and foresight at the portfolio level.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, ability to understand connectivity between all R&D functions and commercial team, and between Regional and Global roles/functions.
