The Head of SRE of Cropwise Platform will be an experienced senior leader with a background in technology, architecture, systems management, agile methodology and operational ready products (DevOps), as well as demonstrable experience in leading regional and global digital devops and related teams, preferably from an Agricultural or Pharmaceutical or Retail background.

As a member of Syngenta’s Digital Product Engineering team you will be responsible for:

There will also be an additional responsibility of being a Sr. site lead for the EAME digital hub and focal point for Digital Engineering teams located in Madrid ensuring that the team is capable of developing EAME solutions following industry best practices and standards and connecting the team working with peers across the globe.

The role will be responsible for leading the devops team on platform & micro-service delivery, providing knowledge, experience and hands on expertise on efficient reliability and performance practices, with proficiency in use of Serverless Technologies, Containers (Docker/Vagrant), Ansible, Automated Deployment Tools, Testing Tools GitHub and AWS / Azure. This includes recruitment, contracting, evaluation and mentoring the team.

  •  Accountable for technical architecture and development of the Cropwise Platform
  • Accountable for the recruitment and evolution of the engineering team
  • Own, source and manage solution architecture outcomes, develop documentation
  • Work closely with engineering and product leadership and global counterparts to develop strong, agile and scalable technical infrastructure
  • Responsible for business and technology collaboration and ensure effective engagement with various delivery partners including product managers.
  • Identify opportunities to resolve complex problems, deliver value, optimise benefits and reduce the cost through fast experimentation and continuous deployment to local and global platforms
  • Identify and facilitate the resolution of architecture decisions and issues through the solution architecture, infrastructure and delivery phases both locally and globally
  • Set local and global standards for Technology stacks and infrastructure. I
  • Measure product success indicators (KPIs). Prepare and manage our global digital product management budget
  • Research, conceive, and develop software applications to extend and improve on Syngenta's product offering.
  • Contribute to a wide variety of projects using natural language processing, artificial intelligence, data compression, machine learning, and other data science technologies.
  • Collaborate on scalability issues involving access to data and information.
  • Utilize exposure to large-scale production software troubleshooting.
  • Help maintain mission critical services

Some of the technologies that we leverage are AWS / Azure management, DevOps, Testing, Coding Standards.
