Head Communications (m/f/d) Germany & Austria - Crop Protection

Role purpose:

The Head Communications Germany & Austria is leading Crop Protection BU DACH’s employee communications & engagement within the BU as well as external communication for Germany & Austria. The Head of Communications Germany & Austria will report to the CP BU Head and closely work with the leadership members to set and implement the communications agenda.

Responsibilities/main tasks:

  • Developing compelling internal communications channel strategy, engagement plans and collateral to support specific initiatives that build the culture, drive change / transformation or support effective ways of working
  • Providing direction and guidance on communications matters to the Leadership team
  • Partnering with the BU’s function leaders, their teams or project teams to shape communications and engagement activities within their function, and across the Business unit, as appropriate, to enable their business strategies, results and performance, or key milestones / announcements
  • Developing compelling external communications and engagement plans to position Syngenta with external stakeholders, media and as an attractive employer in Germany and Austria
  • Working with external agencies or service providers to support delivering the required content and impact
  • Establishing strong working relationships with the Region communications team, Region                   Public Affairs and Sustainability team as well as across the Group Communications team to ensure strategic alignment and effective implementation
  • Putting in place relevant metrics and measuring communications activities effectiveness
  • Contributing to communications functional excellence and to the development of the Region Communications function, frameworks, policies, processes, governance for Internal Communications

Qualifications

Knowledge and experience expected:

  • Degree in Communications or related discipline
  • 15+ years of communications experience or related field
  • Experience within a global business, ideally Agriculture, Chemicals or Pharmaceuticals
  • Development of communications strategies to address complex business challenges
  • Strategy development and implementation
  • People management, partnering and coaching skills
  • Working within a complex global matrix organization and cross-functional/cross-cultural teams
  • Leading communication through significant business change and transformation with experience in developing effective ways to engage large organizations
  • Full proficiency in English and German, additional languages (e.g. French) desirable
  • Experience in working with external agencies or service providers
  • Developing strategic content strategy leveraging a mix of channels across both new digital and traditional media
  • Ability to build rapport, trust and credibility with leaders, key stakeholders and other communications
