This role can be based remotely/homeoffice either in the UK, France or anywhere within the European Union with global and overseas travel at various times of the year

This role requires working across different time zones globally and some overseas travel 

Role purpose:

Syngenta is seeking a Global Technical Manager – Urban Pest Management to provide strategic global techno-commercial leadership in development of urban pest products and solutions supporting the Professional Pest Management (PPM) business.

You will lead development of products and integrated solutions ensuring necessary biological performance data and IP support / proof of concept data for commercialization.

You would also support technology development and value capture associated with opportunities and capabilities among regional counterparts.

Accountabilities:

  • Drive strategic innovation and creativity in projects and solutions focusing on key opportunities in line with the business strategy.
  • Manage assigned portfolio of development projects with accountability for the development budget (internal and external spend).
  • Support the technical development of new Active Ingredients, global formulations and novel technologies from early field testing through to product launch via product biology contribution within cross-functional teams, leveraging networks as required (internal and external).
  • In collaboration with technical marketing colleagues support pre-launch, launch and growth of sales of new products and ensure technical competitive information is available to position accordingly
  • Work with regional technical managers to coach and train field staff for local support of assigned PPM products
  • Design and communicate technical summaries for product use and development plans to deliver business objectives agreed among the Syngenta Professional Solutions (SPS) leadership team
  • Translate performance data into compelling messages that appeal to customers and key influencers, actively looking for new approaches to enhance or reposition a product’s value proposition.
  • Prepare labels and provide support to the regulatory affairs group in establishment of registration dossiers and submissions.
  • Lead, inspire and motivate the Global R&D functions to support SPS strategic priorities, developing knowledge and capabilities.
  • Drive the design and communication of technical strategies for products and their use, and create development plans and protocols to deliver business objectives agreed within Global R&D and PPM business teams.
  • Provide a global link to SPS Commercial Management, Field Development, Research, stakeholders in R&D and commercial technical support across regions and external influencers
  • Contribute to the PPM Portfolio Leadership Teams (PLT) to agree technical priorities in line with global and regional portfolio strategies, ensuring an appropriate balance of resource investments across projects to deliver the current and future portfolio.

Qualifications

Knowledge, experience & capabilities:

  • Minimum of 7 years experience working in product development for the PPM market
  • A graduate degree in Entomology or related field with PhD preferred
  • Experience in the implementation, management and analysis of product trials including sample management, protocol design systems, and data reporting/management
  • Technical leadership and teamwork in a multicultural environment, combined with creativity, and the ability to plan and manage projects with an emphasis on results-orientation
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, interest in new technology, verbal and written communication
  • Fluent in data management systems such as BioPlan, Biodesign, and BITS
  • High level of experience in test sample management, logistics, and STARLIMS systems
  • Experience participating in global cross-functional project teams
  • Ability to balance and manage technical risks
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong team player, builds and maintains a broad network to internal and external experts.  Leadership skills in technical and project management aspects.
  • Successful Global experience in the management of product development in the PPM market
  • Deep understanding of the PPM business, including product lines and technologies
