As a Global Technical Manager Insect Control, you are responsible to design and implement biology technical development strategies for the new crop protection insecticides products and research pipeline. You will provide scientific and agronomic expertise in entomology, market and competitor foresight for new technologies and ensure the implementation of field trials on a global basis, exerting challenging, strategic technical drive as the prime partner for technical counterparts in regions and key countries as well as Global functions, including business and research. You will drive complex development projects in an international, multifunctional environment to deliver market competitive insecticide products with the goal of formulating options for innovative technical solutions creating value for our customers.

Accountabilities:

  • You lead the global technical development of new Active Ingredients (AI’s) where applicable plus key strategic projects, from early research field testing through to product launch and post-launch lifecycle management, actively looking for new approaches to enhance or re-position a product’s value proposition.
  • You plan and coordinate harmonized field trialing programs, liaising with research, the regions, and countries - assembling teams to deliver the scientific experimentation and data efficiently and on time, on costs and with clear conclusions and recommendations for next steps.
  • You provide technical positioning for Active Ingredients, design and communicate technical strategies for product use and development plans to deliver agreed business objectives.
  • You translate data into compelling technical launch plans that meet market / customer needs.
  • You lead biology development scientific activities within global teams according to portfolio priorities to experiment, profile, select and optimize the best technology for our customers.
  • You foster technical networking, as well as actively seeking contacts with customers and key influencers to develop and support solutions.
  • You drive strategic innovation and creativity in projects and solutions, identifying new market opportunities for active ingredients, formulations and use of technology, and pursuing Intellectual Property opportunities.
  • You technically support (where necessary) current and new third-party products and are fully involved in the third-party negotiation team in ongoing negotiations to access third party products and the potential co-development of in-house compounds.
  • You establish digital solutions that support trialing excellence and provide value product offers.
  • You foster a continuous improvement mindset driving new methods development and new field experimental design to understand variability and perform multi-parameter optimization.

Qualifications

  • Broad and detailed knowledge of agribusiness and entomology (crop protection, bio-controls or new technologies for controlling insect pests in the Agriculture domain).
  • Excellent knowledge of agronomy (farmer practices) and agricultural sciences with a PhD in Entomology or MSc in Entomology (or a similar biological science, e.g. Agricultural Sciences / Agronomy or Applied entomology in an Agricultural domain) with 5-10 years research experience.
  • Understanding of the R&D organization, and key processes involved with product biology development of new active ingredients and products.
  • Fluency in written and oral English.
  • Globally recognized technical expert in applied entomology in Agriculture domains, insecticides field trialing and insecticides / insect control product biology development / profiling of new products and technologies for Agriculture use.
  • Proven track-record of delivering successful development projects in country/region/global role.
  • Experience in the planning, implementation and management of field trials.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of local technical market experience in applied entomology in agronomy field / insect control / insecticides.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to plan, design trials, experiment and interpret data to profile, optimize and select the best control technologies through the R&D process, with the ability to build technical launch plans encompassing market / customers-oriented messages for the commercial teams.
  • Focused on customers and is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.
  • Builds a culture of innovation – creates an environment that inspires and supports creativity, proactively pursuing Intellectual Property (IP) rights opportunities and owning the biology IP strategy, experimental plan and coordinatization across functions to enable proper implementation.
  • Proactive communication and alignment with stakeholders including a strong strategic thinking ability.
