  • Ensure global strategic orientation around innovation and its implementation in projects and solutions to deliver profitable market share growth in key crops and markets, focusing on projects where most business value can be added (in line with the business strategy of Disease Control).
  • Lead, inspire and motivate the Global Product Biology Disease Control team, developing team members’ capabilities and leadership skills.
  • Ensure effective management of budgets and team resources aligned with the CP strategy.
  • Design and communicate technical strategies for products and their uses. Understand and investigate technical attributes and performance data for our own and competitors’ products. Translate technical features/attributes into compelling messages to appeal to our customers and enhance or reposition the value proposition of our products.
  • Create biology roadmaps and development plans for new AIs and support the creation of plans for PLCM projects. Deliver business objectives agreed upon and aligned within R&D and with the Disease Control marketing team.
  • Define AI search targets and priorities in collaboration with Marketing, Regions, Territories / key CUs and Research, supporting their use to guide project progression and governance
  • Identify internal and external global opportunities and collaborations to maintain or enhance technical leadership and innovation, including working directly with collaborators to evaluate their technologies. Create and communicate foresight of new competitor products and new technologies, and the opportunities or risks that they bring to the business

Qualifications

  • Qualified in agronomy or crop protection to PhD-level or professional equivalent with 10+ years of experience working in the relevant industry or academic roles.
  • In-depth understanding of the delivery of development projects from research to launch and how to effectively lead and contribute to projects, including collaboration management, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Agribusiness awareness (crop protection, bio-stimulants, biologicals, abiotic stress management, new technologies) and understanding of commercial and business concepts, with a detailed understanding of both Syngenta and competitor products.
  • Led projects or technical teams in multicultural and multifunctional environments to deliver products or projects to the business.
  • Establish the role as the global authority for Product Biology while demonstrating a strong collaborative spirit.
  • Effective prioritization - setting clear responsibilities and managing technical risks. Able to see through complexity and conflicting requirements.
  • Confidently communicating and defending ideas to a range of audiences, especially senior and expert audiences.
  • Builds a culture of innovation – creates an environment that supports creativity, and coached people to spark innovation

This job requires significant overseas travel at various times of the year.

As Global Product Biology Disease Control Lead you will lead and inspire the Product Biology Disease Control Team to efficiently deliver projects and products. Therefore, you are going to work in close partnership with Global and Region / Territory R&D Functions and Crop Protection Marketing.
You will provide strategic global techno-commercial leadership in development, managing the efficient and timely biological development of new Active Ingredients (AIs) from CP Research through to their launch in key markets and working with Regional and Territory R&D to support effective PLCM and local development. You’re going to steer the early-stage portfolio of Disease Control through direct influence into RPT and prioritization.
