Global Doubled haploidy Technology & Operations Head

Role purpose
Lead global lab, greenhouse, and field operations to ensure successful delivery of DH populations to support all corn germplasm development programs around the world.
 

Accountabilities

1.    Own global DH operations and technology strategy and ensure proper support to all regional programs to deliver pipeline needs. Understand key businesses and financial parameters and their impact.
2.    Achieve and maintain high standards of delivery to meet regional demands by ensuring appropriate and timely planning and implementing of field, lab, and greenhouse activities.
3.    Ensure all DH facilities ran and are kept at their optimal state to deliver the expected results
4.    Drive novel technologies to realize the full value of DH and achieve the objectives required to deliver the pipeline
5.    Maintain strong interaction and collaboration with global SR and A&DS teams to ensure alignment, implementation of new technologies and analytical methodologies and influence the development of new tools and/algorithms to support DH operations
6.    Facilitate planning for resources including new technologies, equipment, and personnel for effective and efficient functioning of all DH activities across regions
7.    Lead through influence and change to create an integrated and highly motivated DH Technology & Operations team
8.    Develop regional leaders to enable leadership focused on people and organizational development
9.    Ensure hiring of highly skilled professionals and sponsor people development and retention of personnel.
10.    Develop and deliver regular updates to internal SYT stakeholders and governance bodies regarding status and progress of our DH platforms. 
11.    Ensures identification, assessment, and management of key risks in our DH operations and innovation projects. 
12.    Maintain effective communication and interaction with collaboration partners, to ensure execution of short-term plans and to support alignment of long-term strategy for our collaborations. 
13.    Active member of Pipeline Delivery Leadership Team. 
 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Critical Knowledge: 
•    Project, program, and portfolio management knowledge to deliver goals in a complex organization (cross functional, cross-sites) and technical environment 
•    Understanding of people leadership and development for large and globally diverse teams 
•    Knowledge of and experience in R&D and business organizations and processes 
•    Technical knowledge in DH technologies & operations 
•    Technical knowledge of R&D product pipelines and portfolios in Agriculture is also required

Critical Experience:
•    Experience in managing a complex seeds research and development product pipeline 

Critical technical, professional, and personal capabilities 

•    More than 10 years’ experience in global research and development environment
•    Minimum of 10 years’ experience managing complex operations
•    PhD in Agronomy, Plant Breeding/Genetics, Crop Science or relevant field
•    Experience working successfully in international and multidisciplinary project team environment
•    Track record of influencing/developing talent
•    Knowledge of Spanish is highly desirable
