Part of the Bioinformatics’ team, you work in a R&D collaborative environment to develop and explore sunflower pan-genomic cultivated diversity with a focus on the study of the linkage drag of new traits arising from the trait discovery program.
A key aspect for the future deployment of haplotype-based breeding strategies.

The position is offered on an 18-month fixed-term contract and based in France/Saint Sauveur (31).

Starting date: SEPT/OCT 2024.

Accountabilities
 

Integration of public and internal sunflower NGS data and analysis procedures (Hübner et al. 2019 & Huang et al. 2023) within the scope of internal ongoing efforts (cultivated pangenome and haplotype-based breeding) in close collaboration with the teams in charge of leading such developments.

Identification and characterization of exotic introgressions (Wild Helianthus annuus and Non-Helianthus annuus species), and production of genomic metrics to follow and evaluate their impact (gene content and genomic divergence) in shaping Syngenta breeding gene-pool. 

Knowledge sharing and active collaboration for the development of molecular tools & processes to allow the traceability of introgressions in forward breeding and trait introgression procedures. We expect an active contribution of the candidate on the rational / process to integrate such exotic introgressions into current cultivated pangenome.

Qualifications

PhD in Computational biology with a background of crops genetics

Knowledge in plant genomics.

Knowledge of genomics / pangenomics data managements.

Previous work experience in genomic research – knowledges in Sunflower program would be appreciated.

Knowledge in Python and other programming/scripting language.

Familiarity with the Linux and/or Unix computing environments required Professional English required to work in our multicultural organisation (meetings, emails, documents).
