MAKE A DIFFERENCE

As Finance Accountant for our HQ you will be responsible to better support the business by exploring new ways of working in the accounting environment and striving for process standardization & simplification, while leveraging on our technology platforms

Accountabilities:

  • Drive Finance related projects and contribute to new business projects by providing the finance and accounting view.
  • Partner with Group Reporting team and develop accounting issue papers according to IFRS standards and Swiss Code of Obligation for complex transactions in the Swiss entities.
  • Provide the Head of CH Statutory Finance and selected key stakeholders in Finance with practical know-how of accounting processes and drive implementation of external process changes in our HQ environment.
  • Responsible for accounting activities to reach 100% compliance with internal standards and for implementing efficient and effective internal processes.
  • Lead Accounting according to IFRS and Swiss regulations / OR (Swiss code of obligations) of the treasury and finance entities.
  • Develop and maintain a close relationship with the Treasury team re alignment of the accounting topics in the treasury and finance entities.
  • Develop and maintain a close relationship with the Treasury Accountant in the Finance Operations Center and coordinate the activities between the two roles.
  • Develop, maintain and own the accounting configuration in the Treasury Management System (TMS).
  • Lead the Accounting according to IFRS and Swiss regulations / OR (Swiss code of obligations) of the commodity trading entity AVC SA
  • Develop and maintain a close relationship with the AVC team in Geneva re alignment of the accounting topics of AVC.
  • Support the Tax department to review impact of accounting topics/transactions from tax perspective.
  • Liaise with external auditors and group financial reporting and consolidation team regarding accounting topics, unusual transactions, and its reporting.
  • Produce Statistical financial information for Swiss authorities.
  • Ensure timely monthly closing of books and reporting to Group using SBFC (Syngenta Business Financial Consolidation) in coordination with our Global Finance Operations center in India.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Several years working experience as accountant preferably in a multinational company or in a Big 4 audit company.
  • Solid theoretical background and practical know-how of IFRS and Swiss accounting law
  • Excellent proven and good know-how in accounting and processes documentation
  • Financial consolidation knowledge
  • Understanding of tax concepts and IFRS tax reporting
  • Understanding of Treasury and Inhouse Bank instruments and processes is a plus. This involves accounting treatment of treasury instruments under IFRS (especially IFRS 9 Financial Instruments and Hedge Accounting) and Swiss code of obligations.
  • Commodity and commodity derivatives accounting according to IFRS would be a plus.
  • Good Excel and SAP FI knowledge, experience with reporting software (preferably SAP Business Financial Consolidation). Experience in working with a Treasury Management System (e.g. SAP Treasury) is a plus.
  • Affinity towards systems and technology
  • Excellent level in English and German, French is a strong plus.
  • Excellent knowledge in Swiss code of obligation and IFRS
  • Work in matrix organization across different departments and time zones.
  • CPA or similar
  • Experience as financial accountant in an IFRS and Swiss multinational company or Big 4 company.
