Job description

The Environmental Modeling Pathology Corn Intern will support our research team by contributing to the analysis and modeling of environmental factors influencing corn disease dynamics. This role also offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in plant pathology, data analysis, and environmental modeling. You will be involve in data collection, statistical analysis, and the application of modeling tools to predict disease outbreaks and assess the impact of environmental variables on crop health. You will be provided the opportunity of being exposed to research activities, allowing you to apply academic background and ultimately be exposed to Research & Development at Syngenta

You will:

  • Assist in collecting and analyzing data related to corn diseases and environmental conditions.
  • Support the development and validation of environmental models for disease prediction.
  • Conduct statistical analyses and interpret data to identify patterns and trends.
  • Collaborate with researchers to refine modeling techniques and improve accuracy.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to effectively communicate findings and provide recommended enhancements of disease environmental modeling efforts.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Plant Pathology, Environmental Science, Agronomy, or a related field.
  • Experience with Data Science and Analytics
  • Familiarity with environmental modeling tools and techniques is a plus
  • Ability to work independently with proper direction, but also effectively collaborate and communicate with other teams when necessary 
  • Must be a current student continuing education upon completion of internship term (Internship term is May 2025 through August 2025)
  • A valid Driver's License
