In action

As an Energy and Water Manager, based in Enkhuizen, with a focus on sustainability and energy efficiency, you are responsible for energy and water management within the Dutch operations. Due to the diverse types of buildings where operations are carried out, such as offices, greenhouses, factories, and laboratories, and the mix of energy flows involved, there is a great challenge to make this run optimally. This position encompasses a wide range of tasks to lead the organization towards a more sustainable future and optimize energy and water consumption.

From your role, you support and advise management, engineering, and asset owners on energy-related issues that lead to a reduction of total CO2 emissions within the applicable regulations.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Determine future-proof policies and strategies fitting within laws and regulations
  • Monitor and optimize various energy flows in collaboration with external advisors
  • Monitor and optimize various (waste) water flows
  • Propose and substantiate sustainability initiatives
  • Manage and maintain registration and compliance-related reports
  • Advise project management
  • Handle the annual declaration of purification levy/pollution levy to the various water boards
  • Handle the annual declaration of CO2 emissions to the Netherlands Enterprise Agency

Within Syngenta Netherlands, new construction and replacement projects are developed, budgeted, and executed by the Engineering department. This is an enthusiastic multidisciplinary team with a technical background, due to the wide variety of installations, machines, buildings, and processes. The team supports the various business units necessary for breeding and processing vegetable and flower seeds.

Syngenta has several locations in the Netherlands, with its headquarters in Enkhuizen.

To prepare the company for future-proof operations, the Engineering department is looking for a motivated full-time employee:


Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • Completed HBO (University of Applied Sciences) degree in Energy Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or similar field
  • Experience in energy management
  • Affinity and/or experience with sustainability is a must
  • Experience in preparing and presenting advice at board level
  • Good communication and writing skills
  • Experience with ISO50001 is a plus

Additional Information

Reporting: The Energy and Water Manager reports to the management team in the Netherlands.
