In Action

Manage all regional unconstrained demand planning processes in volume and value on a 36-month horizon for all customer channels and ensure alignment with business strategy. This includes ensuring accurate and achievable regional demand plans, balancing projects and resources, and managing exceptions. Additionally, create and maintain an accurate and comprehensive consolidated forecast and demand plan as a key input into the supply planning process, thereby supporting operational excellence in fulfilling customer expectations.

The Challenge

The role involves establishing and validating the demand plan while considering factors such as promotions, campaigns, price changes, product launches, and yearly changes. Coordination with Portfolio and Supply teams is essential to balance demand and supply, identifying decisions that need to be escalated for senior management approval. Collaboration with Product and Sales Management, as well as Marketing, is necessary to align on the demand plan and escalate important decisions. The demand must be analyzed and challenged to ensure an integrated perspective, including validation against the sales budget, marketing plan, key account plans, and overall business strategy and financial goals. Reviewing demand plans against supply scenarios and reconciling with Supply to develop a proposed Sales Plan is required. Facilitating monthly demand reviews and understanding the root causes of major plan deviations is essential. Obtaining senior management sign-off on the unconstrained demand plan is crucial. Supporting the adoption of a unified forecasting approach and participating in regional reconciliations is important. Breaking down the forecast to the required level of granularity and geography, and supporting territories in providing a quality forecast, is part of the role. Monitoring, reporting, and improving forecast accuracy, as well as taking initiative on process improvements, standardization, and simplification, is expected.
