Data Manager

ROLE PURPOSE:

• This position exists to provide data stewardship (completeness, confidentiality, integrity, and availability), collection, training and computing support for data owned by product development, product evaluation scientists.

• The key aspect is to maintain Crop Protection Development data asset, thereby preserving and enhancing the value of Syngenta.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Work in close coordination with CPD functions namely: Product biology (Technical managers), Field biology, TEQB & Tech Support teams
• Serve as a key focal point for BITS and related matters
• Enable team in easy access to tools / workflows for data to support advancement process and special requests from CPD if any.
• Increase adoption of globally deployed database systems, ensure clients are supported & trained adequately for their data handling needs.
• Manage established data bases, statistical analysis, while identifying potential enhancements, stop gaps.
• Provide support for data analyses (reporting and computing) needs of CPD scientists, including support in product performance analyses, support statistical analysis, different packages being used to support CPD (JMP, R, SQL query, STAR, SIPHON), Product biology & Marketing, Data Summarization (PIVOT, SLICER, JMP, PPT), Tools being used to address requirements of CPD, Product biology & Marketing
• Collaborate with the Technical managers in driving fit for purpose data management solutions.
•  Provide data stewardship (completeness, confidentiality, integrity, and availability, Data cleaning, SE CODES, Rate units, product names, assessment labels), collection, computing, analysis & reporting support for data owned by CP Technical & Trialing teams.
• Work in conjunction with region/global in defining the data strategy that supports country requirements and drive implementation of the agreed data strategy to ensure delivery of high data quality and consistency for all reporting.
• Serve as key user for Data analytics and IT related data systems; provide training to promote continuous improvement in use of data analytics and related data systems with the clients
• Maintain a close and productive relationship with the CPD customers by enabling seamless communication in order to anticipate and meet their data related needs.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Critical Knowledge:
• Understand the steps involved in Crop Protection Development .
• Understand the basics of statistical experimental design.
• Understand basic computer hardware and software principles and terminology.
• Understand data base structure and data management
• Extensive knowledge in using Microsoft Office products
• Good understanding of field trialing/practices and develop a thorough understanding of      BITS
• Knowledge in implementing measures to maintain data completeness, confidentiality, integrity, availability.
• Ability to provide product performance analysis support is an advantage
• Advanced knowledge on data query using standard query languages, data analyses, and data reporting in S-Plus and/or SAS.
• Knowledge & understanding of crops & its management is preferred

Critical Experience:
• Have at least three years experience working in product development/research data analysis for agri business.
