Chemical Process Technician

Paraquat plant is the manufacturing stream for the production Paraquat Dichloride (PDC)  which is the active ingredient for Gramoxone.

• Within a team safely and efficiently manufacture PDC on Paraquat plant which is a top-tier COMAH plant. 
• Work flexibly to achieve business priorities. 
• Seek to continuously improve all aspects of daily production and plant safety which are within own control. 
• The Chemical Process Technician (CPT) works mainly in the outside part of the plant as a two-person team responding to calls from the Process Controller (PC) to carry out process operations, both work groups are working a 24-hour shift pattern. 
• Following the critical procedures, connecting, off-loading and loading hazardous materials from tankers. These duties are carried out unsupervised. 
• To co-ordinate and direct operations of raw material movements by forklift truck. 
• Take samples from the process when requested by the PC, the samples are to be used for in-plant quality control testing. 
• Perform asset care routines, including the daily, weekly and monthly checks. These checks are to be planned in during the shift as well as completing their core duties. 
• Perform basic engineering tasks to minimise downtown of the production asset. 
• Complete Permit to Works. 
• Provide a handover from shift to shift. 
• Identifying and working on Operational Excellence projects (5S, DOWNTIME).

• Trained and validated on the process within six months (nine months for external candidate) with proactive learning behaviours demonstrated. 
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Good communication skills. 
• Demonstrate ability & willingness to learn new skills quickly, to plan & organise, & to make decisions 
• The nature of the job requires a person who can apply a responsible attitude, even when under pressure & can handle several issues concurrently with good levels of prioritisation demonstrated.
