Role purpose

  • To support business leaders solve key complex problems and deliver value to our customers in the role of a key Change Agent for strategic initiatives ( Eg Cost Competitiveness, Global Product Digitalization, Supply Chain of the Future) through leverage of subject matter expertise in continuous improvement and agile capabilities.
  • To actively support at all levels in the organization and working as a member of a wider change delivery team to drive improvement initiatives to deliver value to our customers in the most productive way; safe, high quality, timely and cost effective
  • Provide leadership within the networks of Continuous Improvement and Agile Leads, Coaches and Practitioners and other change delivery leads across the organization to develop continuous improvement and agile capability and through hands on delivery experience.
  • Act as an ambassador and champion for Continuous Improvement and Agile within P&S.

Accountabilities

  • Act as a lead expert in Continuous Improvement and agile targeting execution and developing others in its use.
  • Lead as a Content Owner for part of the Service Delivery Model. Drive the CI function in the role of an ambassador and champion for Continuous Improvement and Agile within P&S.
  • Driving and facilitating the application and value creation of Continuous Improvement and Agile specifically in Production and Supply.
  • Partnering with key stakeholders, at all levels of the organization, to help solve complex problems beyond the functional self-sufficiency, leveraging own area of expertise as well as coordinating support from other areas of the business.
  • Lead priority initiatives working with different project teams, leaders and functions to shape, scrum master and implement change delivery interventions and transformations ensuring delivery on time, to target and within budget within P&S.
  • Building improvement capability, focused on delivering value to our customers in the most productive way, by coaching and mentoring employees and teams, at all levels of the organization, to develop continuous improvement and agile skills and enable them to use the techniques on their own with appropriate balance between technical methods and a change management mind-set.
  • Acting as a catalyst for an active learning environment by proactively enhancing capabilities and ways of working on the Continuous Improvement and Agile teams across the organization.
  • Championing and role modelling the use of improvement methodologies, techniques and principles and enable the sustainable development of an improvement focused culture in Syngenta.
  • Partnering within the P&S CoE and with P&S Functional COEs, POD and subject matter groups to adapt and enhance the P&S CoEs delivery approach.
  • Act as an ambassador for the P&S CoE target operating model.
  • Driving a mind set and actions around valuation of improvement benefits through favorable KPI movement and the understanding of related financial impacts.

Qualifications

Experience required for the job

  • Demonstrated mastery of improvement techniques and methodologies and experience of application in real business situations
  • Leading and applying principle and value based lean and agile approaches in driving transformation, change and improvements initiatives.
  • Leading agile initiatives as a Scrum Master as well as leading creative problem-solving workshops applying design thinking techniques.
  • Leading improvement initiatives, within a large matrix global organization, being able and sensitive to use different methodologies as required, including hybrids of Lean and Agile approaches.
  • Ability to rapidly understand complex operational situations and to support and coach colleagues to identify routes to improvement using a structured improvement methodology
  • Leading others through change, in a complex business environment, with no direct line management accountability using a change management methodology.
  • Data-based problem solving and decision making
  • Working in complex structures with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization
  • Communicating effectively and influencing widely to support a cultural change embracing, own and using improvement techniques
  • Facilitation of improvement workshops and training sessions
  • Coaching, mentoring and training colleagues on improvement methods and tools

Minimum education and critical knowledge required for the job

  • Fluent in English, any additional language will be highly beneficial for work with teams having other native language
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • 10+ years of relevant expereince
  • Trained and certified at an advanced level in an improvement methodology (Syngenta Continuous Improvement, Shingo, Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, Scrum, Design Thinking) and familiar with related trends and best practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of Value Stream Mapping ( VSM), management disciplines (standard work, visual management, tiered meetings, etc.) and experience in implementing them
  • Proven record in the application of project and program management methodologies
  • Change and/or operational management experience

Additional information.

Flexibility for travelling (approx. 20%), job will largely cover projects and leaders in APAC P&S
