A Breeding Operations Digital Product Manager plays a pivotal role in the intersection of agricultural science and technology, focusing on the digital tools and platforms that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of breeding programs. This individual is responsible for leading the development and implementation of digital solutions that support the trialing operations of plant breeding. They work closely with breeding teams to understand their needs and translate them into digital product requirements. By managing the product lifecycle from conception through launch and continuous improvement, they ensure that the digital tools are user-friendly, data-driven, and aligned with the strategic goals of the breeding operations.

The role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, knowledge of modern breeding techniques, and strong product management, business requirements gathering and project management skills to deliver innovative digital products that drive forward genetic advancements and contribute to sustainable agricultural practices.

Accountabilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for digital products in breeding operations, aligning with both scientific advancements and operational needs.
  • Oversee the integration of digital solutions in breeding programs, ensuring they enhance productivity and accuracy.
  • Manage the product lifecycle, including budgeting, resource allocation, and timeline adherence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure products are scientifically sound and operationally viable.
  • Monitor and analyze product performance, making data-informed decisions to refine and improve product offerings

Qualifications

Knowledge, experience & capabilities

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Plant Breeding, Genetics, Agronomy, or a closely related field.
  • Extensive experience in plant breeding or a closely related scientific field, with a clear understanding of the practical aspects of breeding operations.
  • Strong background in product management, especially in digital product development in an agricultural, plant science, or biotech context..
  • Knowledge of the latest technologies and trends in digital agriculture and plant breeding.
  • Ability to translate complex scientific and operational needs into effective digital solutions.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams, including scientific and technical professionals.
