We are currently seeking a Biology Laboratory Technician / Research Scientist for the Insect Control team based at Syngenta’s Research Centre in Stein, Switzerland. In this role, you will carry out various bioassay experiments with arthropods at different scales from lab to controlled climate chambers and greenhouses to support research projects. You will join an experienced, motivated team and work within a striving and continuously changing environment.
 

Accountabilities

The Biology Laboratory Technician / Biologielaborant (m/f/d)

  • Is fully responsible to independently plan, perform, and report standard and non-standard tasks consisting of related steps and processes in discussion with scientific experts
  • Records test data, enters data in systems using appropriate software and methods
  • Records and communicates abnormalities and errors
  • Documents experiments and test results and carries out first interpretation of data
  • Is responsible for cleanliness, functionality, security and usage of task related equipment, rooms, and laboratories
  • Is responsible for organization of own laboratory and greenhouse work
  • Further develops testing methods /applications
  • Drives for optimally high quality and efficiency in a given range of responsibility
  • Seeks for continuous improvement
  • Is open to new ideas and technology and actively proposes improvements
  • May work in indication specific operational projects to improve efficiency and efficacy
  • Ensures compliance of HSE (health, safety and environment) to Syngenta standards, encourage and propagate best practice especially in the area of biosafety.

Qualifications

  • Apprenticeship in Agrobiology or other technical discipline / BMS or BSc in agrobiology disciplines or equivalent professional education
  • Good English knowledge written and spoken (Level B2 or above)
  • 2-3 years of experience in lab position
  • Open-minded personality, good team player
