Job description

We are seeking for 2 Biological Operation Technicians to join our Seeds to Seeds team in the Vegetables Business Unit at Syngenta. 

One of them will be responsible for internal planting at the El Ejido station. (Distribution, plant coordination, traceability of markers and discards, reporting incidents, re-planting, necessary human and material resources, communicating crop needs, etc.), and the other will be responsible for preparing external trial sowings, ensuring trial traceability, maintaining seed health, and coordinating seed activities between El Ejido and Murcia/external locations.

You will play a crucial role in planning, coordinating, and supervising seed activities while striving for operational excellence through digital transformation and material tracking.

Accountabilities

  • Execute the seed activities in Veg. (planting, pollination, harvesting, disinfection, packaging, processing, storage chamber updating,...) establishing good collaboration with all departments and functions.
  • Ensure pollination according to Syngenta rules, supporting the responsible party.
  • Responsible for the execution and coordination of the seed disinfection and the heat treatment procedures necessary to ensure the optimal condition of our materials.
  • Plan and execute weekly, monthly, and annual activities in line with people management and third parties through VEGA (our digital planning tool).
  • Monitor processes and control facilities to ensure seed quality and logistics.
  • Optimize deliveries, resource allocation, and function alignment through KPI performance.
  • Provide seed quality management and organize demands according to weekly planning.
  • Support various departments and projects within Vegetable R&D stations.
  • Ensure seed traceability on-site and influence activities outside the immediate area.
  • Comply with and promote ISO 9001:2008, GSPP, and HSE standards.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

  • Educational background in agricultural sciences or related field.
  • Knowledge of seed processes, production, and pollination.
  • Experience in seed technology and trial management.
  • Strong relationship-building skills to work with various departments (Breeders, Marketing, Sales, Farm staff).
  • Flexibility to deal with continuous changes and clear decision-making in ambiguous situations.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and positive approach.
  • Innovative thinking and participation in multifunctional teams to create and design innovative solutions.
  • Knowledge of seed processes, production, and pollination.
  • Certified as a Pesticide Applicator.
