  • To lead the APAC group of application technology experts charged with the development of novel application technologies – encompassing both precision as well as conventional application methodologies.
  • To drive a deep understanding of APAC customer product application needs so as to ensure these insights are effectively employed in formulation development.
  • To work with APAC business and development teams to create and implement opportunities to integrate new application technology interventions into product development projects.
  • To define product application technologies and interventions that facilitate improved product sustainability through product application
  • To build and maintain a network with regional and country based application technology and technical support centres.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the APAC Application technology group.
  • Direct and enable the team to provide application technology expert input to the APAC and GLOBAL project portfolio under development in PT&E at APAC, also supporting other regions in similar endeavors.
  • Support novel product design by gaining and applying a deep understanding of current and future product application needs in APAC through intimate knowledge of current and future end-user needs and good connectivity to local experts.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of technology development across all aspects of application technology, e.g. via external collaborations, to enable external technology developments can be effectively implemented into Syngenta product offers.
  • Driving and encouraging the APAC AT teams to develop novel application technologies as well as finding novel external application technologies to enhance product performance and improved sustainability outcomes.
  • Enable agility and responsiveness by developing people and organization that can respond to emerging needs and changes at Syngenta, especially at our major interfaces.
  • Collaborate with Application Technology experts inside PT&E, in the broader Syngenta as well as with external sources of expertise to deliver improvements in application technologies.
  • Lead a culture of continuous improvement in HSE performance – extending this into interactions with external applicators of Syngenta products.
  • Through and with the team provide application technical expertise to support best evaluation of development products across the APAC field station network.
  • Provide application expertise to support APAC product stewardship in customer-facing organizations and directly with influential end-user organizations.
  • Provide training concepts and materials on application technology for internal and external use.
  • Manage the recruitment, training, development and performance of the application technologists and scientists in the group.

Qualifications

Essentials Knowledge & Experience:

  • University degree in agronomy, biology, chemistry, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Understanding of crop protection product application technology across diverse use systems.
  • Understanding of agronomic practices used by Syngenta’s customers.
  • 8+ years’ experience in a technical position in the agronomy/biology or formulation technology and / or product application functions.
  • Strong experience and credibility working across critical interfaces with including with Biology, in-market technical support team, Formulation chemists and all other Functions engaged in the creation of the end-user experience of Syngenta’s products.
  • Proven team leadership skills.
  • A strong track record of project delivering.
