Job description

At Syngenta, our goal is to create a highly collaborative and trustworthy team in agriculture, delivering top-quality seeds and innovative crop protection solutions that improve farmers' success. To support this mission, Syngenta's NA Crop Protection Human Resources team is looking for a Seedcare Application Lead in Plattsville, Ontario.

Accountabilities:

  • Design and execute Seedcare product formulation treating and planting tests in the lab and commercial operations/fields to support new product launches, validate recipes, and ensure application quality of treated seed.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders at local, North American, and global levels to align and deliver the commercial Seedcare strategy.
  • Provide engineering consultancy on seed treatment equipment in commercial operations for National Account Managers, key accounts, seed companies, and commercial treaters using Syngenta formulations.
  • Design, implement, and operationalize seed treatment recipes according to the operational setups in commercial seed treatment facilities.
  • Provide technical direction to the formulation development team on developing new products for commercial application and planting needs.
  • Act as a liaison for adjacent technologies such as treater and planter companies and polymer and colorant suppliers.
  • Demonstrate product performance to support marketing material development.
  • Troubleshoot customer product inquiries on application and planting of Seedcare formulations.
  • Train commercial treaters and internal Syngenta stakeholders on handling and application of Seedcare products.
  • Work with various external seed stakeholders to manage projects related to seed safety, product synergies, and proper product performance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering, chemistry, material science, or related field; master's degree in related field preferred.
  • 5 years' working experience in a related technical field.
  • Knowledge of agricultural trends and agricultural equipment with a focus on planters and drills and seed treatment equipment.
  • Strong technical acumen in application technology or chemistry.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities across all organizational levels and with external customers.
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear, concise messages.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking capabilities.
  • Understanding of crop protection products and seed industry preferred.
  • All applicants must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Requires domestic and international travel up to 20%.
