The role:

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our Metabolomics Group within Product Safety, where you can play a vital role in supporting the development of Syngenta active ingredients and seeds by contributing to the cutting-edge research within our dynamic and highly talented team. As part of this you will have the opportunity to work across teams, both internally and externally.

As an Analytical Chemist in Metabolomics, you will be part of a team working together to deliver metabolomics support to projects across R&D. Key responsibilities include:

  • Metabolomics data generation and data processing with a primary focus on in vitro toxicology metabolomics including instrument maintenance, system suitability and data quality control.
  • Planning and executing study data generation, initial data processing and data delivery, including theAn upload of processed results into in-house tools and databases.
  • Development and maintenance of analytical methods, reference standards and protocols.
  • Maintenance and improvement of metabolomic signature database

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

  • Educated to degree level or higher in analytical chemistry, metabolomics or similar.
  • Analytical chemistry or metabolomics experience:
  • Sample preparation and quality control procedures
  • LC-MS operation and maintenance (preferably high-resolution MS)
  • High level of attention to detail and compliance with best practices.
  • Experience of handling large sample and data sets with precision
  • Analytical troubleshooting and method development skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and team player attitude.

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Automated sample preparation techniques (well-plate robotics)
  • Targeted analytical/metabolomics data processing using specialist software
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new skills
  • In vitro cell culture handling
  • Experience with Thermo Orbitrap MS and software: Xcalibur, Freestyle, Tracefinder
