Job Description

Location: Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco - Mexico

Here is how this role will be critical to our business:

Accountabilities:

  • Coordinate and supervise integrate pest management practices.
  • Assure success of targeted applications with effectiveness in use technique as well as pesticide.
  • Supervised pesticide injections and applications using backpack sprayer.
  • Compliance with all SENASICA, USDA and local regulations as well as all site HSE and Quality protocols.
  • Take action according to priorities based on scouting, crop stage and pest threshold.
  • Ensure to use the adequate type of needles and drops on each application to ensure best results.
  • Scout the quality, quantity, and efficiency of the temporary employee’s performance under your supervision.
  • Collaborate with agronomy team in other task or cross training activities such as but not limit to land preparation, planting, and irrigation when necessary.
  • Be able to assist in crops and site activities according with company needs.
  • Demonstrate innovations by staying aware of emerging trends and recommending new processes, products training opportunities or techniques that will increase plant health efficiencies or improve skills.

Qualifications

Knowledge, experience & capabilities

  • M.S. in agriculture crop science or biology related to field.
  • B.S. in entomology crop production, phytopathology, or related field.
  • 5-10 Years of experience on agronomy role leading teams and preferably seeds production operations experience and IPM roles.
  • Excellent understanding of all relevant agronomic/cultural practices in a tropical environment (IPM pesticide applications)
  • Knowledge of seed crop research, production, and quality assurance practices.
  • Knowledge and experience in corn, soybean, and sunflower seed production.
  • Experience on screen house or closed environments.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use computer software for data management.
  • English proficient written and speaking.
  • Experience in calibrating mechanical and manual spray equipment.
  • Experience in Technology adoption for area (Drone, NDVI, Software ETC, ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Leadership skills for people management and development.
  • Good communication skills and be able to work independently
