Job description

  • Execute the Trait Introgression operational seeds to seeds activities at the respective site for all fast-cycling MAIC projects (full, T&F, stack, MATS) in collaboration with Ops TI Lead, supporting respective crops.
  • Execute crop planning and TI resourcing at the respective site.
  • Secure and update the administration data in relevant Syngenta IT applications (VEGA, MINT, SPIRIT, Starlims, …)
    • Capture all operational data in enterprise IT systems and tools, and assist to monitor operational KPIs regularly to secure success of TI conversions and TI pipeline delivery
  • Secure fit-for-purpose TI operational processes and infrastructure by proposing improvements when needed to deliver on quality, quantity and throughput.
  • Contribute to optimize and streamline the TI processes in close partnership with TI Operations Lead for respective crops.
  • Contribute to translate crop demand into an operational work plan including defining crop cycles, and look after to transplant the selecting plants at each cycle according to molecular marker results. 
  • Contribute to translate crop demand into operational resource needs (infrastructures, FTEs…), create rolling planning forecasts for crop cycle, FTE need, surface need, seed shipments, and beyond.  follow up and update annual resourcing plan for greenhouses (workers and plants numbers…) in IT applications (Vega e.g).

Qualifications

 Critical Knowledge

  • BS degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Sciences or related field and ≥ 5 years of experience
  •  
  • Critical Experience
  •                                                                                             
  • Proven experience in crop/germplasm management (such as nursery management and breeding cycle logistics) and/or TI in R&D setting (preferably applied to breeding programs)
  • Experience in managing operational processes including management of infrastructure and relevant resources (people…)
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence
  • Demonstrated ability to identify critical issues and engage with cross functional stakeholders to solve problems in timely manner

  • Data and digital fluency to effectively capture data and manage TI process using appropriate IT systems
  • Results orientation and drive to deliver high quality trait conversions to enrich the germplasm pipeline
