Role purpose

The Global Head of Logistics and Customs for Seeds production is responsible for the global distribution network in support of customer satisfaction and sales growth. The role involves strategic planning, execution, and continuous improvement of logistics processes to support the company's overall business objectives. Accountable for customs/duties strategy, -certifications and -operations as well as documenting and invoicing operations. Strong connection to trade compliance function.

Accountabilities

  • Strategy: Define and execute the strategy for global logistics including storage and transportation to meet diverse global customer needs for primary and secondary logistics.
  • Operations: Directs, manages and leads a global and regional teams to optimize speed, dependability and efficiency in logistics operations.
  • Leadership: Develop individual and organizational skills and capability to meet current and anticipated business requirements
  • Customer focus: Ensures internal and external customers' expectations and requirements are met while ensuring supply chain optimization and risk management. Identify and mitigate risks associated with logistics operations, including supply chain disruptions and geopolitical factors.
  • Customs: Manage customs and tax including certifications on a strategic and operational level
  • Supplier Management: Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, logistics partners, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers. Manage documenting and invoicing in accordance with phytosanitary and import/export regulations in all regions
  • Knowledge development: Act as subject matter expert, strategic leader and go-to person for regional secondary warehousing and logistics/distribution setups and concepts
  • Productivity: Develop and cultivate a continuous improvement and best practice culture across global processes. Owns key performance indicators to optimize safety, quality, delivery and cost.
  • Technology Integration: Leverage technology and data analytics to optimize logistics processes and improve efficiency.
  • Compliance: Ensure all distribution activities comply with applicable internal and external, legal, HSE and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • At least 8-10 years of work experience in logistics.
  • Experience in international leadership positions.
  • Manage complexity - making sense of complex, high value, low quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve global problems.
  • Experience in managing logistics projects, including planning, execution, and evaluation.
  • A Masters’ qualification in Supply Chain Management or Logistics & Supply Chain Operations.
  • International experience in two or more regions / countries.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic plans that align with business objectives.Multiple years of experience in managing logistics/supply chain operations
  • Ability to build effective relations in a matrix organization and across cultures
  • Demonstrated success in building out and standing up a global network of warehouse and transportation (all modes) providers for a seeds organization preferred.
  • Systems savvy – warehouse and transportation management systems & trade compliance systems expertise.
  • Change and project management experience including direct involvement in, preferably leadership of major change projects.
  • Valuable: experience with export of biological materials.
  • Languages: English (Dutch not mandatory)

Additional Information

  • Ability to travel internationally 25-35%.
  • Location: Enkhuizen, Netherlands.
